The S3 is gone....3 scussers kicked my front door down at 1am, came upstairs and demanded my car keys. I wasn't going to argue as they looked pretty mean in their balaclavas and I just had my pants on! They legged it outside and took my wallet and phone on the way before jumping into the car, which was parked on the street outside our next door neighbours, and drove off. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif.

So, if anyone is offered a silver S3, X reg with about 60k miles make sure you see all the documents and get it hpi checked.

Does anyone know if the S3's are common targets for theft/stolen to order/ gettaway cars etc?

That is really terrible news! Hope your all ok mate!

Hope they catch the feckers!

Sorry to hear that mate sounds extreme.

What did the cops say? Local gang?

Maybe it's time to get some home security - camera, panic button or even a shotgun maybe?

OMG really sorry to hear that mate, hope your alright. thats bad news /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsdown.gif

Horrible experience, hope u and family r ok!

They must have been watchin where u lived to target the right house, this happened to my missus's dad, her mum went to the door opened it, then in comes foot thro the door, gimmie yr FFF-ing keys now, weilding a 7" blade, she just frooze, the dad came to the door, opened to door wider, then smashed it back into his face, braking glas etc... he fukked of after, police took dad out in black jag and they caught the fff-ing bleeder, went down for 12months, was after the new C-class merc. Good job missus's dad is 5th dan in Karate hey!

But it isnt a nice thing to go thru. Hope u get it sorrted soon mate

HOLY SH!T - what utter /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif @ssholes

Glad your alright

I read in a previous post that S3's are quite desirable as getaway cars, something about them being quite discreet and fast as /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif

Also - Might be worth keeping an eye out on ebay or even autotrader

hope they catch the /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif b@stard

I echo the sentiments above. Not a nice thing to have to go through.

I hope this works out for you somehow.

Regards,

B

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. It was pretty nasty but it could've been worse. We were all OK.

I think they must have been watching us to know which house to break into to get the keys. I think it may be a stolen to order to order job as it;s been almost a week and there's no sign of the car.

Don't really want the car back now, feels like having a target outside the house. Just need to decide what to get instead, something anon. and slow but hopefully not too crappy. Any thoughts?

dude sorry to hear this has happened - more importantly well done in handing over the keys as to save any harm done to u n the mrs.

s3 and seat leons are the desired get away cars so dont be surprised if its used in the next couple of months as in a bank raid or something to that extent.

time to get a dog!

Defo, good skills in not getting anyone hurt. Hope the insurance sorts it out. Christ, I better keep Bobby Baton handy then.

How about a ST170 ?

I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up and find someone in my bedroom!

shocking!

i will add the details to my forum to spread the word thru the vag community.

that really isnt good, sorry to hear that. i wonder if the fucxxng scum would try that on if you had a ten stone male rott in the house. i think not. my little staffy is very protective over me and i would love for someone to try that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif to c what she would do. they say a dog is a mans best friend well she would be my best mate if she stopped them thieving my car. i know this doesnt help u but dont think about getting a different car get yourself a good dog and baseball bat. and /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif them asxholes up if they try that shxt in your house again. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/soap.gif sorry that shxt has made me mad!!

we've all got chukkys in our house, but u really gotta know how to use em, lol, we're all karate nuts

That's why i keep a cricket bat under my bed, just in case i wake up in the middle of the night fancying a game of cricket (honest constable)

i wont say what i keep next to my bed in case theifs are reading these forum, but it will hurt them very very badly

Thats ******' awful m8, but at least you weren't hurt. I can't imagine how that must feel, but when it comes to personal safety of yourself and loved ones versus a hunk of metal/glass/plastic/rubber, then I know which one I'd choose.

Keep safe and hope the insurance sorts you out.

sorry to hear that mate get some really heavy duty door locks and dead bolts top and bottom through your house insuranace and back door. All the best man.

Sorry to hear about this mate, it makes me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif sick, but that is why mine and the wife's car key's are on the table just inside the front door, if they want my car, then they can have it over my families safety, as said it is a hunk of metal after all and you can get another one!

All in all though I am glad you and your family are OK.

****** W&nkers

B@@@@@@ds

Can't believe it. Heard about that happening for more obvious targets evos etc, but not to our lovely little discreet S3 club.

They better catch the little @?*£s. I hope the police were helpful.

I hope it doesn't happen to me. This morning I couldn't even find my keys, so it would be yes mate hold on a sec. Now where did I put them, no not in the kitchen.... yes be with you in a minute. hold on while I just ring the missus and see if she put them down in the office.....Meanwhile I'd probably have the living @?!* kicked out of me.......no honest I really am that bad with remembering where I put them...........

Worst sort of scum.

Glad you are all ok.

Get insurance money, go shopping. enjoy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least you weren't caught shaggin', now that would have been horrific ! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

This is really sad. What complete low life to do something like this.

Lets hope they catch these scum.

Sorry to hear about this mate, you did the best thing. I am going to repeat the above statement...

Thieving pikey scum....

Tracker group buy? - I will give them a call to see what they can offer.

This thread has made me think. Horrific story cd8, glad you made the right decision and no-one was hurt.

Disturbing news. Good job you didn't try and be a hero. Not worth the risk mate.

About a month ago, similer kind of thing happened to my cousin in Birmingham for his X5.

Makes you think twice about buying a nice car.

Nothing is safe anymore.

Is nothing safe. You can't even sleep easy in your bed nowadays. Shocking!

Glad you are OK anyway and you definitely did the right thing IMO

The sad thing is if you had have hit them over the head with a baseball bat (the least these to55ers deserve) it would probably be you spending the night in a cell!

Thanks everyone.

I think a tracker sounds like a good idea, it might have made them think twice? Also, I wonder if swapping the S3 badges for plain old A3 ones would have fooled them.

Shocked to hear about this! Glad everyone is unhurt.

One of the problems of the new cars now, that the security is so much better than it used to be, that it's now very difficult to hot wire a car etc. So the thieving c##t's now resort to getting the keys, which can be much more dangerous!

Good luck with getting a decent insurance payout to replace the car & compensate for the trauma..

Tracker were after a number of interested parties but have agreed to come back with some banded pricing - if we get 10, 20 etc etc.

I will post in the group buy section (admins allowing?) and post here to let you know once I get their response.

Cheers,

Greg

Rich, are you serious? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bravo.gif You need to show me!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/swear.gif dude, went through same sorta thing 5 years ago, i know this sounds tough but keep your health in check, and make the biggest effort to calm your self if you feel any of those thoughts bother you, i'm saying that cos i let it get to me and i was off sick for quite a while cos i didn't know how to handle it

i'll be keeping an eye out for your s3

pm me if you want to chat about

Sorry to hear what happened. At least you are all ok. I sort of know how you feel as I had my S3 stolen 4 days after I bought it. Fortunately I wasn't in the house - they broke in whilst I was at work to get the keys and off they went. They did steal my identity whilst they were in the house (passport, driving licence, birth certificate etc).

My S3 was spotted a week later when some blokes were behaving suspiciously near an S8, and the owner called the police. The 'thieves' weren't too clever as they were still running around on the original plates. Hence got spotted 5 days later by police who chased them (S3 escaped!). Police recognised the driver, so they just went round his house at 4am and found him, his 'mates' and another stolen Audi and 2 stolen BMW's. Never found out what happened to them - probably got sent on some rehab course at the tax payers expense!

After much wrangling I ended up with the S3 back and a 'cash settlement' from the insurance co.

My learning points:
1. I now have a safe hidden in the house where I keep all the keys;
2. I now have a tracker in the S3;
3. I now have a monitored alarm in my house.

I catch the train to work so the car is still outside all day. I've done all I possibly can to prevent it from happening again.

Hope you sort things out and that you can get back to some form of normality.

BTW update on the Tracker group buy - spoke to them again, the guy is working on it but says they have had people off sick so is struggling a little.

Will keep on it (assuming there is interest of course).

dont think removing badegs would make a diff mate - if someone wants to steal ur car its gonna go - thats the way i see it and atthe end of the day it is a material item so quit worrying mate (hard i know)

you gonna replace it with another or going for something more covert?
