Symphony li radio cassette and 6 disc changer
BOSE sound system
Alcantra/Leather sport seats

Unfortunately, it's got a 22wk delivery time!!! BUM.....

Cheers h

Nice one.

Ordered mine last week, just got the wait ahead now........

Good choice h! Welcome to the world of Audi....well, in 22 weeks time anyway.

Good choice with the alcantara/leather seats (grippy, comfortable and smell of leather - hits all targets). The alum inlays are nice too.

And your spec nicks3....?

Personally hburnett I think you've made a very good choice (saying that cos your spec matches mine pretty much!).... Hope WK 22 comes round soon for you matey!

Silver 3 door 3.2 DSG S Line, s line bodykit, full black leather, sunroof, concert and bose, heated front seats, interior light pack, light and rain sensor, Xenons, electric lumbar, cruise, ali trim, acoustic parking, multifunction wheel, hill hold, front armrest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/groovy.gif

Nice spec H and welcome to the forum. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

incredible spec! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

what's "hill hold"? is that like what they have on buses to stop them rolling backwards at junctions?

Hill hold.... thats that handbrake thingie isn't it?

Welcome aboard matey, 22 weeks will pass like a flash!

Hill hold keeps brake pressure for 5 seconds after letting the brake pedal off on a hill so you get no roll back, only £80.00 option.

Have been waiting fro new S3 for ages then for R32/36 but after seeing a few Golfs in the flesh I just prefer the A3's looks, more aggressive. So I decided to spec it really well, but for me.

Anyone know how many litres of fuel the 3.2 tank holds compared to the old S3 which held 62 (no daft comments re consumption /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

Just found out...apparently its 60 litres, so smaller than the S3!

For the sportback it's 60 litres for 4wd, 55 litres for 2wd I think. No idea if that is different for the 3dr?

Nice spec btw, both of you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Same for 3.2 3 door: 60 litres. Idiot light comes on after the first 50 are gone, and that happens quickly!

Wish there were extra fuel capacity, but looking under the car there is just no more room left...

Nice cars guys!

What do you mean, idiot light? Surely not low fuel warning light.......

What mpg are you getting?

That is some waiting time though! 22 weeks??

I had a spec list just as long (longer in fact) and it was 11 weeks.

Ordered my 3.2 on 14th July and delivery will be late September/early October, so say approx 12 weeks.

Is hill hold required on a DSG car? I drive up a steep hill on my way home and it has lots of buses crawling up it at about 15-20mph which means lots of stop-start traffic. DSG holds the car steady for what feels like a couple of seconds when I take my feet off the pedals...

I didn't see hill hold as an option when we were going through what was available, and I don't see the point for a DSG box as it has a little 'creep' programmed in so it will hold stationary (or near as dammit) on an uphill slope in D, S or Tip.

I didn't see the point either with DSG but the 2 audi dealers I spoke to said it was worth having and to be honest at £85.00 you might as well.

Hadn't thought of that!

Dealer thought it was a good thing to have. If it has been a lot of money I wouldn't have bothered but at £85.00 its worth the risk.

Yup, "idiot light" in JB speak = low fuel warning light. On mine, it comes on when there are only fifty liters left.

I average 13 Liters per 100 km, driving like a looney monkey most of the time.

At 6300 rpm in sixth, fuel consumption is 30 L/100.
Steady state 100 km/h is 9 L.

Guess now I'll have to swith to MPG on the gauge cluster and report back. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If thats 22mpg thrashing then I'm impressed.

Best I have seen is 28mpg on a long motorway cruise, 22 in mixed conditions and 17 around town /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

tufflittleunit got me thinking, why DO audi offer this on the dsg cars? What advantage.......don't know whether to delte that from the order now, hmmmmm.........

Thanks tinka, I'll leave it on the order. At £85.00 its worth is just for the odd time it may be used.

Hill Hold with DSG???

Hill hold is surely the most useless c##p handbag-carrying thing ever thought of, even surpassing the monumental uselessness of 'I can't reverse sensors'

As a hill start is part of the basic driving test, anyone who can't swap brake-to-clutch on a hill shouldn't be driving. (and who uses the handbrake on a hill start, except on their test?)

DSG (being idiot proof for myself) prevents any roll back at all, so how can they sell an anti-roll back function on a car that by virtue of DSG already has one?? More salesman bulls##t i'd say.

Get it off your order. Sorry for ranting.

i use a handbrake on hill starts. i was feeling pretty good as weel until i read the above /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
the only place i can it being a problem is london where you are forced to burn clutch as i put it because any slight hesitancy at lights is met with a blast of the horn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

but back on topic..i think you should take a 3.2 dsg for a test drive with and without hill hold for test drive and then say you dont rate it and you think it is a waste (whether or not true) and speak to sales manager and say that you are dissappointed with the sales technique and that you are considering withdrawing your order...etc..then scam the hill hold free. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif

oh and hil hold will make the car very attractive to people like my mum - when you come to sell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Save yourself £85. Or if you want to spend it on something else, get the reversible boot mat to look after your car.

I've got DSG and I've never had a problem, including when sampling some of the delights of North Devon.

I always use my handbrake for hill starts and never find it a problem. I have not tried the 'hill hold' so cannot comment on it usefulness.

I also tend to to put the DSG into neutral and apply the handbrake when I'm stopped at traffic lights etc. I've always hated sitting behind a lazy driver with his/her foot on the foot brake and being blinded by their brake lights, especially at night.

Once whilst on holiday in Germany many years ago in an Audi 80 Sport, I was stopped at traffic lights, with a Golf in front of me. A young lady come up behind in a Fiesta. She was busy talking to her passenger and didn't notice the traffic had stopped and hit the back of my car at about 40mph according to the police. The fact that I had the handbrake on meant that my car did minimal damage to the Golf in front, although my car ended up as a write-off.

I really don't rate the aliminium inlays it must be said - checked out a colleagues the other day. A bit gimicky. The TT is looking really dated now with the aliminium vent housings as well. A little bit of aliminium is good but too much seems to date pretty quickly. Also seems pretty cheap - ford and vauxhall use it a lot in their 'hot hatches' now. Also the plain cloth on the A3 just doesn't seem to cut the mustard. Full leather or alcantara is a must I think...

Continue the hill hold thread................

As Eeef said I was recently stop-starting up Porlock Hill in North Devon (so steep you can hardly walk up it) behind an 1950's open top bus of all things!!, and the fully laden A3 faithfully pulled smoothly away on every brake release without so much as a micro-roll backwards.

I don't understand, how do you use the handbrake for a hill start with DSG???

The car cannot and will not roll backwards with D/S or M engaged. It senses the footbrake and picks up the drive as soon as you start to release the brake pedal.

Using the handbrake just confuses the poor thing. DSG doesn't monitor the handbrake and mistakes it for a VERY VERY steep hill (ie the car won't move forward), so it puts more and more clutch and throttle on until its almost dragging the back wheels along the road.

Try it. Handbrake on, in D and let off the footbrake. Give it a second or too until it starts to try and pull the tread off your back tyres!! (on a 2WD of course!)

I am talking more about starting from being parked or with the DSG in neutral on a hill. Foot on brake, engage D/S or M, release handbrake and away. No roll back.

Hi guys, sorry for not replying... Been way busy!
Just got delivery date of end of November, so not too bad, better the Xmas anyhow! Can't wait to get it now!
Thanks for your comments, greatly recieved!
Later H

so everyone with a dsg A3 is saying that the hill hold is not worth buying as dsg already does the job????

yup - I really can't see the point of hill hold with DSG. there is just no roll back with dsg.

Ok no point in having it then...I will delete from order. Wifes Auto 3.0D X5 has no roll back either and no hill hold so no real point. Why do Audi offer it though...I can understand with the manual cars??

You do get roll back with DSG, or at least I as well as many others do. I actually like / dont mind it as you learn to use it to your advantage. A bit like dipping the clutch on a manual to let it roll forwards to save taking it out of reverse, for instance when manouvoring out of a parking space on a steep hill.

If you know it does it, you can work with it.

Sorry, to clarify the roll back is more when changing from 1st to reverse or vice versa and not taking off from a standstill after letting off foot brake /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif
