Hi all, Just purchased my first S3, I used the auto close function on my fob the other day and the sunroof reset itself whilst open slightly, enough to leak water and make a whistling noise.
I've had a look on the forum and wound the motor manually with the allen key before disconnecting the battery for over 15 minutes, but to no avail.
I was wondering if there is a microswitch or similar in there which controls the 'home' position? Which may have failed?!

Thanks
Oli

Try taking the fuse out for the sunroof to reset? My sunroof has had similar problems and this simple fix has solved it

Yes...
Do this, It WILL work,
Remove the interia light panel... there is a hole for a 4 or 5 mm allen key ( cant remember i did mine last year ) Take the batery off the car ( just disconect it ) then turn the allen key untill the sun roof is fully closed . Done o too far as it will start to tilt, Then reconect the batery. All will be well, Sorry about my spelling.

It will work - same happened to mine and took the fuse out once id CLOSED it fully with the allen key.

Ahh fair play, I didn't use the allen key to adjust before removing its power feed.
I set it to the right height using the tilt switch, then d/c'd the fuse.
I'll have another go and report back!
Thanks for the help guys :)

Not worked again. Still sits in the same return position.
Is there a home position switch/sensor somewhere in the sunroof setup that could be at fault? (not the main dial switch)

Sorry to revive an 8yo thread but...

My MY13 S3 Sportback broke down a few weeks ago. They found some water had got into the electrical. Anyway, fixed. A week later went to tilt open the sunroof, and it won’t close now. Nor open. It’s stuck on tilt. No whirring or grinding noises, just nothing. Fuse is fine. I’ve read many posts about Allen keys and light panels: I’ve taken both front and rear off and there’s no hole for any Allen key. What can I do? No rain can get in, unless it’s coming in horizontally from behind the car. Very frustrating.

Wrong section dude... this is for older A3/S3 (8L... 1999-2003)... you want either the 8P or 8V depending on your car (on a turn year for the transition between models I believe)
