Alright I was looking at changing my rear lights to LED's but am undecided weather to go for the normal red ones or the smoked effect, I was just wondering if anyone has got these or has an opinion on them?or even better pics?? :)

Comes down to personal preferance as with most mods. What colour is your car?? Any pics of it?? Any other mods or colour coding planned (Lamin-X for instance)?

Ano what you mean mate but just a lot of money if I don't like them lol, ave already changed a lot on my car a took a pic but dunno how to upload them haha, I'll list what ave done tho

: RS4 grill, changed alloys rs4 style, chrome wingmirrors, changed headlights to led style, blacked out windows, LED interior light throughout, Cupra R splitter, remapped, And other minor tweaks inside,

Its too addictive when you start modding haha, but at the minute I love the look of my car and am unsure about the smoked effect rear lights incase it spoils it, my cars black by the way.
Do you know how to upload pics by the way? Cheers

The LED headlights that you've installed, do they have black innards of chrome? Maybe the LED rears should be done to match? Personally (and this is just my opinion) I think smoked lights on black cars look too much, too dark, but I know many others would disagree...

I use photobucket for photos, set yourself up an account, upload all your pictures to there (there's an app for smart phones if you have one) and then you paste the URL to the picture into your post (use the picture icon at the top of the post toolbar). Not sure if you can resize them though...

Not lamin-x but Im sure with lamin-x you'd get a similar look?

They have black insides and that's exactly what I was thinking just don't wanna over do it, lol am trying to sort this photo bucket out so I can get some pics up, you got any other ideas for mods yourself??? Am always looking for ideas,

JDM82 am liking your rear LEDs the ones ave came across aren't like yours where abouts did you get them from and what wud the damage be £££??? Lol

I got them off ebay but the seller is in america. They cost me £198 and worth every penny :icon_thumright:

Here's my oem lamps with lamin-x film

If you were to get some LED taillights and then decide that they weren't to your taste a nearly new set could fetch 75% of their original value on here or eBay I'm sure, so even if you change your mind all is not lost.

In respect of other mods, you've gone down a very similar route to me (and I'm sure many others), the cheapers and less involved mods which enhance the car. Only obvious mod in addition to what you already have is an RS4 Anti-roll bar (rear). Very common mod and apparently makes a dramatic difference to the handling, it's on my to do list but I want to upgrade the audio first...

As you say modding can get very addictive, but sometimes you have to draw the line... other times not! It depends how much time/money/effort you personally want to invest and if YOU will get enough enjoyment from the mods you want to do. Retrofitting factory options might be something to look at: MFSW, Cruise, Auto-dimming mirror, RNS-E (personally not my headunit of choice due to cost).

Maintenance >>>> Modding

Be careful not to get too carried away with the modding and get stung with a big repair bill you weren't expecting! One of the things I'm looking into at the moment is trying to clean/condition/detail the bodywork and get rid of 110000miles worth of wear as much as possible!

I am currently doing the same thing only last week a got my stuff to detail my car, just waiting for the decent weather.
ave already got the rnse in my car but ano wot you mean ave seen how much they are too but as an other option ave seen an after market one made by "witson" which seems to be brilliant according to the reviews, and they are only in the region £289 so maybe that could be an option for you, there is something ave been looking at today and that was getting spacers for alloys to give my car a wider stance but undecided about it,

Cheers for the extra ideas tho plenty to think about now haha, am still undecided on the rear lights tho as both the smoked and red look mint on them pics above!!!

I did seriously consider the Witson, party because of it's price and features, but also because it doesn't require a fascia adaptor and will fit straight into the existing wiring. It was the potential 'cheap' look and feel to the unit that put me off. I'm still not 100% which way I will go with it yet... no doubt money will be a deciding factor...

Spacers is an interesting idea... might want to get new alloys first though...? Deisions Decisions!

bez, what rear valance is that mate? looks well smart with them exhaust tips wouldn't mind something like that for mine

S4 and the tails from my mates place

cool, ive only got a single exit exhaust, wouldnt mind something like this but am gunna have to have an exhaust system made up to get it like that, shame i couldnt just bodge a pipe jut for the look lol

thought you had a 2.0T

VICEROY, you wouldn't have any pics with the lights not on just I cud see wot there like during the day? And it's good seeing it on a dark car tho,

And cheers to everyone for posting there pics etc giving me some good ideas, just hope I make the right decision! Haha

light are off on the black car

Awwww right cheers bez101, on another note you wouldn't know what lamp I need for the fog lights as I'm wanting to change them to white LEDs are they H11?? Cheers

Here you go. Smoked LED's (not lit) on a dark coloured car
cc989fca.jpg

and yeah, the fogs are H11, but they'll throw errors without a resistor, and the problem with the resistor is that they get HOT...so placement is key!

Oh they stock most clear ones but others are made to order so expect to wait a month.

I know others have answered - and no on installation they didn't throw a code....

However, every now and again I get a warning to say that my rear left fog is out when I turn on the ignition with my lights on 'auto'. Indeed the rear left tail lamp on the noot is 'out'. Never does it when they're set to 'off', and it corrects itself if I switch the ignition off then back on again
