Trust me, at that speed on the autobahn you don't want to be f''king around with the cruise control.

Just my two cents worth.

Good call Adam,

Happy to do top speed (I'll video it when I get around to it) but pressing buttons and saying under your breath, "come on.. work you b a s t a r d" and looking down isn't really on.

When I held it on the limiter for that 8 secs or so, I passed a lot of cars on the inside lane (none in the middle and me on the outside). Germans look behind them for xenon headlights at warp speed but even so, some still pull out!!!!!

"Just my 2 cents worth"

Out of curiosity what is that in Euro's?

Oh and wasn't the ERM of the late 80's early 90's that resulted in a 15% base rate slightly more recent than Bretton Woods?

Well I suppose it wasn't fixed completely it was allowed to move within a small band.

Sorry wasn't clear about it above, According to Kelleners Sport the top speed is 285 km/h or 177,6 mph for an original car with limiter removed. Pretty close to 175mph, isn't it?

Mine sails through 155 on the speedo and sits at 170 mph for an age slowly creeping up.........

At this speed the car is remarkably undramatic.

The same can not be said when on a bike at this speed you pop up your head and it feels like it is about to be ripped off

Johann, yep, sorry, I follow you now! 177 is close to 175, unless of course you are neck and neck, in which case it is very different!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">In the last few years whenever a group of
people from the UK have gathered together the talk has turned to Euros eventually.....

Interestingly the current Editor of "The Sun" (tabloid newspaper which has the widest circulation and readership in the UK) was on "Breakfast with Frost" this morning, and categorically stated that his paper would never back Britain's entrance to the Euro, so it will never happen

(When his paper switched allegiance from the Tory party to Labour, their standing in the opinion polls improved dramatically - which of course has nothing to do with Murdoch's access to TV licences

Just a little dissertation for non-UK readers.

The Economist has said that the UK should adopt the euro but probably will not, at least anytime soon. Might answer a question for me tho..what is current Pound to $ conversion rate? I keep trying to figure what you Brits are paying for accessories. Some of the prices seem pretty outragous. On the topic of speed, the fastest Iv'e had my M3 is 130 mph. Car was very solid at that speed and sidewinds didn't seem to effect it much. Thought about putting it on "cruise" and taking a picture of the spedo. Further reflection led me to believe that the speed was affecting my brain and didn't do it.

Sorry to hear that, you must be gutted! At least you are okay - didn't disturb them in the process and get smacked or anything!

Thats the thing with modern cars... so difficult TO thief, that its easier for them to break into the house and thief the keys... and it IS lucky u didnt disturb them cos god knows WHAT they would have done!

I hope that your insurance company is understanding, and not complete ****!

Rich

Bad lluck mate sorry to hear the news.

This seems to be on the increase now. Where are you from ?
I've been taking my car keys to bed with me for a while now, my little mate who sleeps beside my bed with lots of big white teeth keeps them under his basket for me, just incase they try and creep into the bedroom. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

In fact I challenge anyone to try and get the keys from under his bed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif

****** theiving gits, you just can't have anything these days!! My condolences mate. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the support peeps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm near St Helens in the North West of England.

Yes, since she went I've been hearing about lots of other stories of a similar ilk. It's really put me off getting anything nice again until I can afford a house with a Fort-Knox style garage. But I suspect even that wouldn't have stopped them, they'd probably have just waited for me to come home and then "asked" for the keys.

Insurance have so far been quite helpful and supportive, I've just got to wait 28 days for the Police to officially call it vanished and they'll pay.

Time to start thinking about the next motor - but given the scare I have, I think it'll be a tad more conservative! Ah well, I enjoyed it while it lasted....

Ian.

APR Europe Announces the Release of the APR AntiTheft System.
Probably the most significant feature available for your APR EMCS equipped A4 is now available...the EMCS Anti-theft System. Now, with EMCS, you can render your car immobile, even if the there is an attempt to start the car with your own key! More applications will be available soon!

jesus your just up the road from me,hope the feckers burn in hell /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

That's terrible news, chief - the little scrotes really will have anything away that ain't nailed down. Personally, I find that stories like this send me reeling politically off to the right of Genghis Khan. Crucify the little feckers. Garotte them, on telly, at Old Trafford. Set them in the stocks, and have them violently ******** by a trio of hefty perverts at high nooon on the biggest shopping Saturday before Christmas. Grr. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burningmad.gif

Revo do a similar anti-theft thing to APR (I think it just disconnects the accelerator input, so the car will start, tick over, and do nothing else...) but it worries me faintly. Don't want to wake up one night with a gun up my nose...

Damn Ian, really sorry for you. that really makes me think whether or not i want to get one now, im just down the road in Runcorn.

As if i got one it wouldnt be garaged just on the drive, was yours garaged at all?

On the Ford Focus forums, there has been one house robbery for a Focus RS, and then just this weekend the wife of another Focus RS owner was followed, presumably trying to find out were she lived, for another steal, but she was on the ball and lost em!

Mark

Sorry to hear about that mate, I used to work in st helens and occasionally used to see a blue S3, was that urs ?
Dont let the feckers get to u, buy what ever u like and not what u maite think isnt attractive coz its a sad thing to do. Just try to take more precautions in future. ie hiding keys, steering lock, gate lock, driveway post, tracker etc.
hope the insurance pay u the correct value for ur car too.
