Is anyone else completely disgusted that Kevin Mealamu and Tana Umanga have completey escaped punishment for ending Brian O'Driscolls tour?

It always seems like one rule for NZ and another for the rest of the world.

For those of you who didn't see it, in the 2nd minute of the game, a ruck formed. Once the ball had gone, BOD was still at the ruck, not realising the ball had goine, pushing against Jerry Collins. Mealamu and Umanga came in, grabbed one leg each and lifted BOD. Mealamu then speared him into the ground, dislocating his shoulder, in a move which could have broken his neck. It should ahve been a red card, possible for both players, as it was intentional dangerous play, but the referee and touch juddge both missed it. There are numerous camera angles showing the foul - replayed on Sky Sports, yet the citing commissioner has said that there is no case to answer. what a w@nker.

As if to confirm Umanga style of play he later tripped Josh lewsey, another carding offence, but he got away with it again.

I'm absolutely disgusted.

Sadly the Lions lacked the heart for the game, they all need to be taken a peg or two down and most of them need to ge toff their high horses! As for the citing, i understand that it was a high calibar game and they should have been cited, though rugby is a physical game and it would surprise me if Brian O'Driscoll has never done something similar! I am not saying that it is right, but he must have known the All Blacks have alot of hatred and it isnt as though they stamped on his head/punched him repeatidly!

I understand what you're saying Red, but the reason spear tackling was outlawed was due to the risk of breaking someone's neck. As it stand BOD tour is over and next season is probably compromised due to the training he will miss out on. In my view, which comes from playing a lot of rugby, there are fouls which i believe are part of the game and fouls which are not. For example, Neil Back's punch on Jow Worsley was part of the game. THat's isn't to say that i condone it, just that Worsley was messing around with Backy and got what he deserved, end of. What happened to BOD was not a 'tit for tat' thing, it was a deliberate attempt to target the team captain and one of the best centre's in the world. I'm sure they probably didn't mean to seriously injure him, but they did, luckily it wasnt worse.

As for the game generally, i think it shows the SCW has failed by taking so many players on tour, no one has had any time to play together and it shows. The only three players i would definately pick for the next match are Back, Corry and Ryan Jones. The others all need to up their game considerably.

I know it's early to be thinking about it, but are any of you thinking about going to the World Cup matches in 2007? Paris - so nice and handy - well for me anyway.

Kev.

Well if all goes according to plan, i'll be living and working in london by then, so it'd be nice and easy! Yeah i'm definately considering it, it'll depend a little on price of tickets and when they go on sale etc!

I've had a deposit down for almost a year now. Guarenteed tickets to the matches you want and tailor made trip. I'm thinking a semi and the final - dependant upon time I might eurostar over for each or stay over for a week or so.

Kev.

yeah, i was thinking eurostar, or even sleazyjet to be honest, if you book far enough in advance. Who have you arranged that through?

EuroStar is the future, I've seen it. For me it's 10 mins to the station, 30 mins before departure then 2 hours to Paris - so 2.40 hours door to door. Flights are so hectic with parking, bussing to the terminal, check in 2 hours before flight, flight, collect luggage, taxi to hotel etc etc...

I would have booked independantly but I have the fear about not being able to get hold of tickets so I've gone with Kuoni's sporting arm, sport abroad. I've used them for F1 tickets and the like in the past and have been impressed by them.

Deposit is £125 per person now and you get first dibbs on tickets and travel/hotels before they put the info in the brochure.

Kev.

good stuff. Yeah i know what you mean about flying, will probably train it too. Just going to have a look at Kuoni and then the bank balance!!

Yup definalty thinking of going to the world cup, hopefully might have some mates playing in it by then, Chris Bell and Stuart Hooper, they both attended my college and have played with both, Stuart got me tickets to the Leeds vs Bath final, so im hoping he might be able to pull some strings or at least get me tickets!
