Changed the plugs as running a bit erratic on idle

The 4 of mine looked like that, although not quite as bad, when i changed them, no idea how old they were but looking at past reciepts they could be up to 18k old..........
Someone maybe spilled oil down a plug hole when topping up~?.

Could well be if the oil is saturating the spark.
Try cleaning the MAF.
The idle on mine was terrible when I got it. I changed plugs, oil, filters, coolant ,thermostat, temp sensor. Idle was the exact same.
Had a scoot about the forum and cleaned the MAF in some alcohol, used some 10k boost and checked/cleaned all breathers. Cleaned all the electrical plugs I could fine, cleaned throttle body. Also found vac pipes in fpr and dump valve split. After I done all this I disconnect the battery overnight. Reconnected and turned ignition on till the throttle plate setup and all was well. Idle was high and erratic fir about 10 miles. Now smooth and steady all the time.

Oh, also I found some moisture in the spark plug holes. The coil caps were a little damp. Turned out the gasket on all 4 coils were bust. I took them off cleaned and dried. Removed all the square gaskets and used some silicone as a temp fix till I get new gaskets or coils.

Tried cleaning the MAF a little while ago but didn't disconnect the battery - also if I unplug the MAF it's a lot worse so could this confirm MAF is problem - thanks again for the advice.
I wasn't getting erratic idle mate but I was getting random misfires when gunning it which I believe to be because of the oil saturating all around the plug and causing a weak spark. As for the possible MAF problem could you try swapping mafs with somebody with a known working one just to try it out? Then you will know if yours is faulty.
