Morning all,

This is going out too all those who have bought 2nd hand and have bought one with high mileage.

At what mileage did you get yours and have you had any major issues due the high miles already one it.

The engine in particular is the 2.0Tdi (140)

What do you mean by high miles? 100,000 / 200,000 ??
I bought my A4 2.0 TDi on 67,000 and it ticked over 130,000 recently. No problems with the engine at all, had it serviced regularly and changed the cambelt and waterpump, thats it....... Oh i also had it remapped aswell.

turbos are pooh heads crack clutches go rear wiper motor breaks things you can search for on here for more info to get your perfect motor. always an element of luck involved too. whilst forums are a invaluable source of information they are also full of **** that you have to browse through and will make you paranoid about every bang and sqeak and this one makes you spend money big money !

150k has good SH if you didnt see the display you would thing its done 50k
but its a gamble some are crap some are good

I bought my A3 sline 2005 2.0TDi (140) on 110k over a year ago.
I had the cambelt/waterpump changed with the service when i bought it.
Turbo went a few months ago, but you would start to expect that around the mileage.

All in all, as i got the car cheap so it was still worth it.
drives very smooth and responsive, no complaints.

If the cars been serviced and looked after I dont think you would have many problems.
Personally i wouldnt remap it as your asking for trouble.

Thanks for your reply guys .

Basically for what my budget is, i am only coming across cars that have about 100k or more on the clock. They all seem to be ex company cars with full service history etc.

Im just trying to see what problems i may face i guess.

I brought my A3 2.0TDi (140) a year ago now. The car had a full dealership service history. Its now just ticked over 91k on the clock and the only issue I've had is the rear wiper motor leaks.

If a car has a good history and the owner has looked after it, thats half the battle. The chances are that a good condition high mileage car has encountered and had all the common issues sorted so just check everything over. Im sure you will find a good one.

i got my a4 quattro 180 at 158480 and shes fine n dandy

Seems like they are not bad then if they have been looked after. Im still looking for mine and have seen one i like with 112k currently on the clock. Its an 09 plate and has 6 services so far.

I bought my Sline 2.0t with 100k on the clock. It looks like its only done about 50k and is in top condition. The reason I bought it was the full Audi service history from reading Audi upto 85k and them a fleet history for the last 15k

It only cost me £6150??

i brought my Audi a3 tdi (140) 4 months ago with full deal service history and mileage was when brought 121,000 and it runs like new its a grate car love it

As long as the motor has a full service history you should be fine. Just make sure its all been looked after etc!

A3 2.0TDI 140 fash 94k turbo under warranty few months ago, police siren noise and limp mode, so drive it and give it some stick. Get some sort of warranty. You pay through the nose at Audi maindealer but the service I had at Bexley was 1st class and if I had paid out for turbo and new egr valve that they did it would have cost 2k if not under warranty. Just find a looked after one. Good luck.

You can buy a car on 100k miles and run it up to 200k yourself with no problems.

You can also buy a car brand new and have it break down 50 miles from the dealer.

Check service history, give it as good an inspection as you can - RAC etc do inspections for a fee, or you could take it as part of a test drive to a garage for them to take a look at. There's only so much you can do - I'd go with "better safe than sorry" and wait until I found one I was happy with.

I've just bought my car, an A3 Sline 2006 140TDI with 75k on the clock (I paid just over £8k).

Really happy, and drives lovely - however it's got an oil leak which the garage is going to fix. It's also nowhere near as economical as I thought it would be.

a3 2tfsi sport, dsg (2007), 51k miles, good spec! xenons, heated seats, cruise control, paddle shift and sunroof - £9,500
drives like it has 15k on the clock.

service/maintenance/repair: dsg fluid change, cam belt, brake discs and pads, oil, diverter valve, pcv, battery, oil changes, oil filter every 5k miles, power steering fluid, high pressure fuel pump..

half of these things i read up around and did as preventative maintenance and only one issue came up really i.e. high pressure fuel pump

now has 69k miles on it... still running good... planning to use it up to around the 80k mark and get a new one.

What kind of mileage are you hitting then?

What kind of mileage are you hitting then?

I've done a run from Cardiff - Manchester - Liverpool to Kings Lynn about 430 miles and averaged 54mpg and I've got between 1/4 to 1/2 a tank left hoping to get back to Cardiff on the remaining juice in the tank

Never mind the body work its how it looks mechanically. As long as the service history is up to date and nothing has been missed then it should be good and remeber there are lots of these models out there and don't be put off by travelling to get the one you want, we live in a small country - good luck..!

bought mine in november 2009, 2.0 tdi s-line 80,000miles full audi service history, now has 127,000miles and never had a mechanical problem, i do carry out a full service every 6months without fail though

dont be put off these engines a good for well over 200,000 as ive seen them at work

500miles out of a tank = 42mpg. That was my first tank full, so hopefully it will be better as I continue with my daily commute.

My mate tells me there was one audi that reached one million miles in its lifetime
