Audi S3 2008 Built (8P). Retrofitted Cruise Control. NEW ECU or no ECU?

It is possible to install CC without having a DIS (Driver Information System) but it is likely that you will need a new steering control module as well as the new stalk. Cost of parts is likely to be £250 ish plus fitting and coding.

Depending on whereabouts you are in the country (assuming you are in UK ) then there are members of this forum who could do it for you.

Have a search on the forum and see what you can find.

Its not the cruise control im wanting to get fitted, its the DIS. Is this possible?
 
No bother mate. Ive been in touch with loads of garages around my way and its the same answer from all of them, impossible! But on many forums people say they have done it.

Yes a dis can be fitted, but you need a dis cluster which requires immo coding, plus a new wiper stalk & maybe a sensor for the water level.

Whereabouts are you located?
 
It already has a water level indicator (if your talking about the window washer fluid). I'm in middlesbrough mate. How much is all that going to cost about?
 
I'm in the south east, but yes it could be done.
 
Do you know of anyone in the North East who is capable of doing it?
 
Its finding someone who can code the cluster in, I may know 1 person but I have to ask him 1st.

I had been waiting for months for my mate to get around to it (you know what its like) but I contacted Jonny on Friday and he installed it on Sunday.

No problems whatsoever. Test drive. Service with a smile. Hassle free. Just what you'd expect from an expert retrofitter.

Same issue with me - I had CC in my old A4, but the A3 I have replaced it with doesn't. Mines is 2009MY with the white DIS and the MFSW, so I assume all I need is the combined CC and indicator switch, a new lower moulding for the steering column, and someone who knows his way around VAG-COM to program it to the car??? Anyone have any ideas how much the switch costs?
 
CC retro-fit kit part no. :- 8P0 054 690 £62.29

Lower cowl part no. :- 8P0 953 512 A £28.68

These are ETKA prices from a dealer. Ring Dave at Stoke Audi for discounted prices but you will have to pay postage.

Apart from VCDS coding you will also need a 12mm spline bit to remove the steering wheel
 
Can anybody let me know a fitter in the Weston-super-Mare / Bristol area. I have fitted a multifunction steering wheel and have the stalk and lower cowl to fit cruise control to an 07 Audi S3.

I need somebody to programme the car for me so the bits work. Any ideas???

Been reading through the posts and I've just purchased an A3 TDIE and am looking for parts and install for Cruise Control if anyone's in or near Bristol?

I have a 58 plate S3(facelift) and have fitted Cruise Control myself.
Bought it from Huntingdon Audi off eBay. Supplied my reg so I knew I got the correct one.
Car was in at Highland Audi for a n/s/f wheel bearing(yes at 21k!!) and asked the tech to code it in.
He came back to me when I picked the car up to say that he was unable to code it as the coding was not accepted.
He also said that my RNS-E was not coded(which its not) and that may have something to do with it?
I'm unsure why this would be?
The RNS-E works perfectly well without being coded so wasn't that fussed.
Has any one had any similar issues?

Any info would be appreciated, cheers.
 
As Jonny said, 9 out of 10 times, the dealers are clueless on retrofits and coding!

Crunchie, few of the guys will be in aberdeen today, if you could get there, sure Mark will have his vcds on him. If not, try sending Mark (brodster) a pm, he will be up in elgin area in the next few days to take his kids home, so he may be able to help you out. :)

is there anyone in the South that does the CC retro fit? Near to portsmouth as possible, i dont have a MFSW but have the computer, sombody got a rough price in mind?

I live in Manchester and have an Audi S3 (8P) with the trip computer.

Im looking to also have cruise control fitted (probably October).

Is there anyone near me or in the North West that can be be recommended and how much am I looking at please?

Hi mate,

I sometimes drive to Manchester, but otherwise you could get a user here called N8 to arrange it for you as he is set up around Manchester. Sure he will look after you and sort out a good price.
