Hi guys I probably sound like a broken record however I have some more questions I'd like to pick your brains about :)

I have a 52 2002 plate A3 8L and I want it to look identical to a 8P. Is this possible? I have been looking all over the shop and cannot get a straight answer.

If I change the headlights, the bonnet and the bumper, would an 8P front bumper fit onto my 8L?

Finally if that is not possible what is the best thing for me to do to make it look as good as it can. And please guys don't just say "buy a new audi 8P. That is out of the question on my budget.

Thanks guys. :)

if your budget wont allow you to buy an 8p, it wont allow you to make your 8l look EXACTLY like an 8p, simples.
if you really want to go mad with bodywork, imo your better off doing the arches etc and making it look like an s3

How much would you think it would cost to do the conversion? (to do it right) i would say a lot cheaper to buy an 8p, the entry levels are getting as cheap as chips now...

the costs involved in bodywork are astronomical if you want a good job. If you dont have the 5 grand required to buy an 8P then i dont think you can really afford to do a good job on the conversion either.

Moreover, the bodyshells are significantly different in shape, which means the lines of the 8P bumpers etc dont really fit well with the lines of the 8L, and it ends up looking a bit pap.

The 8P is fairly angular with edges and whatnot, whereas the 8L is much more rounded.

I'm looking to spend about £750 tops. And I paid £2200 for my 8L with 40k Miles on it. There are no 8P's less that 4K. What is the best way about doing the conversion and how much should it cost for it to be done properly?

your not being very helpful guys lol.

bear in mind you will be lucky to get your car sprayed for much less than your entire budget

The lines of the 8L don't suit these so called '8P' conversions... the 8L isn't as angular and most if not all conversions look plain wrong...

With only £750 as a budget you would be better off just lowering the car and putting some nice wheels on it... drive around like that saving your cash and buy an 8P...

I mean... this looks stunning...

A good spray job is gonna be the best part of 1500quid

Folk that do wide body RS4 conversions on B5's expect to spend the best part of 5k to do it.

£750
it cost about £500 for the paint mate
Seriously dude you need to put this idea out of your head unless you can up your budget
Not thought about s3 bumpers
you might even be able to find your colour if you look hard enough, then you can fit them yourself :)

I have a mate that will do a spray job for the price of the paint so thats not a problem. Just looked at 8P's... why are you all encouraging me to buy a new car haha. The mises is going to go spare...

Because the most sensible way to get a car that looks like an 8P is to buy an 8P.

Trying to cheaply bodge up a lookalike conversion is only going to result in a car that looks awful.

I just dont see the point. Either stick with your 8L and keep it looking like an 8L, or just buy an 8P!

I want a R8 but can`t get one on my budget but I can get a TT for 4k how much to make it look and go like a R8 ?????

Don`t forget after all the mods are done and you tell your insurance company then it would be a lot cheaper to just buy a 8p

There's only one 8p I'd have and it would have an s3 badge on it
the rest of them don't interest me at all

Converting your car with 8p bumpers is almost as stupid as converting it with an 8p engine

Now there's an interesting conversion an 8l with r8 bumpers lol

Best bet is to just s3 it up, front and back bumpers, xenon headlight conversion, and splash out on some s3 front wings, and maybe even the interior, as its the best thing about the s3 imo.

I once thought about a conversion, but as stated it would cost to much in spray alone. Like the ambition tho lol

Lol my old car not tufftys, not nearly oem enough for Tuffty bubbles. ;)

Stop itttttttt

And for god sake £750 is barely enough to do anything PROPERLY (not that its going to look any good anyway) if you want an 8p buy one and not loose 20 zillion pounds when it comes to selling it

8L to 8P conversions just look so wrong, some things are best just left alone.

I mean why would you want to do this to an 8L its wrong dude.

Echo!!!!!!!!

Dont do it fella you'll regret it, have a look through the pic's thread get some inspiration make yrs look the nuts. Risidual value will be retained which will put you in good sted when you go for the 8p.

All 8P conversions look ****. Even if the work is top notch (nearly all of the ones I've seen aren't...) the design just doesn't go well. They just look odd and weird I reckon.

My 8L is sat next to my neighbours 8p and personaly, along with 99% of the 8L community think it would look s**t. Keep with what you have. You could even keep yours without modifications and save the money you had towards a 'real' 8p (in my opinion its like sticking a ferrari badge on a clio as to how stupid it would look)... It's up to you, but you would struggle to get the 8p bodywork for £750.

Edit: just to add, i saw a clio yesterday with ferrari badges and ferrari decals on the plastic wheel trims... I know the guy was probably having a laugh, but it just looked ridiculous...

haha thats brilliant. Bless him.. Yeah I think I'll just keep it the same and save for an 8P :) The misses is going to have kittens! So much for us saving for the new house..

I disagree I think he would be able to do the conversion to an 8P with £750.

Look what you can do with just £2.97! It would probably look just as good though! :)

I converted my 8P into a 8L and it cost me -£27,000 and it looks just like the real thing....IMO

Seriously, for what it's worth, £750 might buy you an 8P steering wheel and matching gear knob, you are never going to be able to make the car look like an 8P because you'd need an entire new body, new interior, new engine, new wheels, new running gear etc etc...

The dimensions are different too, wheelbase is longer on the 8P, it's a wider car, the list goes on.

Give up on the idea mate, if you want identical, the cheapest way, as said before is to buy an 8P, thats as helpful as you're going to get.
