Hi Guys.. Im sure this has been asked before but when i did a search i couldnt find a good answer.

I am after some LED foglight bulbs to try and match the colour of the DRL's as it looks a bit silly when the Coming/Leaving Home lights come on. Does anyone know what ones would work with no errors?

Thanks in advance

I just fitted some standard bulbs off ebay. They were white Xenon gas filled and are a great colour match.

This was 32 months ago so the actual ones have probably changed on ebay now

I have sourced some LED bulbs and resistors. I am going to have a go at fitting these on the weekend so will take some pics and update.

Thanks

Any updates on your LED foglight fit? Do the resistors go in series with the input? Surprised no one has done a complete unit including resistors (or have they?). Are there no heat issues around using resistors? i.e. surely the resistor heats up?

Right. I have fitted these today.. It took quite a while as i had heard about the heat issue with the resistors so i wanted to mount them away from anything that can cause issues.
Unfortunately i didnt really get many photos (mainly as i kept forgetting!)

I removed the front bumper which gave me access to everything nice and easily and decided to mount the resistors on the brackets that come from the main chassis leg and join on to the wing.

(You can see the bracket i mean just under the horizontal wiring loom)

That way they are not going to cause any issues, Also i soldered long wires to the resistors and taped them to the fog light wiring that runs down from there anyway so nice and tidy.
To connect the wires to the fog light cabling i just used the supplied connectors as i was getting short of light and wanted to reassemble the car, but i intend to properly solder the wires on to give a better finish soon.

So basically i just used the bulbs H11 CREE Q5 12V/24V LED FOG LIGHT BULBS UK PAIR | eBay as i know the guy who sells them.. and a pair of 50w 3ohm resistors which he also supplies.

Here is the finished result..

im very pleased as i also managed to work out how to use VCDS and code the cornering lights which use the fogs so now they match im much happier.

The job is probably fairly easy to do without removing the bumper but i had a couple of bits to do anyway so i found it easier to remove it. So if nothing else i hope it gives a rough idea how it can be done.

Great Job, looks good well done, got more patience than me.

Hi any recommendations for a replacement H11 bulb (Non LED)? I am not going to go with the LED mod. Far too much work and far too little time. I have seen Osram night breakers and Philips X treme. Both look pretty white. I have read that the yellowish bulb as fitted is actually much better at cutting through FOG and rain opposed to the pure white. Not that i use them much and i just fancy the foglight colour matching better to the main beam.

Just a quick update.. After living with these for a few days i decided i didnt like the beam pattern that the bulbs gave out.. So i swapped them for some multi SMD LED bulbs but they looked worse.. So I have ordered some Philips Diamond Vision 5000k Bulbs and will just stick with those (once i have removed the resistors).
Bit of a waste of time but hey you live and learn.

I have been reading up on LEDs v Bulbs. As far as I can see LEDs give a better look but bulbs give better performance when it comes to use in fog etc. Also the more yellow the bulb the better the performance in fog. Personally I plan to go for something like an Osram or Philips upgrade. This seems like a good middle ground. Admittedly the LEDs look good but I need the performance of a good bulb. Any recommendations for H11 upgrade bulb?

Like i said in my previous post i have ordered some of the Philips diamond vision 5000k bulbs so i will upload a pic once fitted.
