Hi guys,

I noticed last night I had a small chip in the windscreen :(

Not sure how I got it however it must have been in the last few days.

Can I get it sorted through insurance and would it affect my NCB or my policy

Would it even be worth worrying about it is a very small chip

Most come out for free to do a repair. check insurance document to see what your covered for.

hi am a windscreen fitter in Manchester your better getting it done soon as now its getting cold the warmth of your heater will crack it if you don't have it fixed your insurance will fix it for free and will not affect your NCB you might still see the crack once it have been repaired but they should guarantee the repair ask them so if it does crack from the chip they should replace the screen for free then if you want push the chip from the inside of the car and it should crack NEW SCREEN!

hi you say a chip?? do you mean a chip or a crack ?

If it looks like a bulls eye type break then it’s pretty stable but will need fixing sooner rather than later as it effects the laminate, but if it’s a star burst then it needs doing straight way as they are very unstable and can go from a free repair via insurance to a new screen as quick as you can clear you screen in the morning.
That said if it’s a chip like a stone chip you would get in the paint work of your car then they are fairly ok and a friendly fitter / repair company would fill it for you and polish it.

I got two like that.

One's been fixed and not changed. the other is about 3 months old and starting to go white.
I will get it replaced soon but worried about the glass or insurance people not giving me a Audi screen.
How easy is it to get one?
My dad asked for one for his touareg and they offered him £100 towards a gen screen or he can pay the excess and get what ever he's given.

Am insured with Admiral and checked my insurance docs which state I need to pay an excess of £70 for windscreen damage, so its not free then

Also my mate recently had an accident which was his fault, his insurance told him he would only have to pay his excess of £500 if he decided to get his car fixed through insurance and not for other vehicle which was involved in the accident.

However on my docs it says I must pay £500 no matter whose fault it is. Does this mean that I will have to pay an excess of £500 even if I dont get my car sorted through insurance and if it is not my fault also
