Window won't come up, so my partner has decided to take it all apart to find out why.. Turns out to be a very common fault. The clips!
But has it been done? The pillar-less doors for an A3 .. If so how hard is it? Looks lovely like this

from all the pillar less cars i have been in
if you could get a weather strip to fit in the area where the pillar was and/or maybe re-design the window (slightly larger) then its possible.
- you need to get the window to go up inside roof or a weather strip to stop water getting in
- from the first point, window must come down slightly to open the door
- then obviously go up when closed

I don't get it? Do you drive round with your doors open a lot?
A pillarless car would not look like that anyway, because it still has a pillar. That is just a door without a frame.

TT's are non framed... door seals would be the issue... TT seals are designed to have the window tucked into them... dunno if you could butcher something to work but would need a bit more thought than that tbh... the frames locate and guide the glass... not seen inside a TT door but would imagine there is something that hekps support the glas better.. TT's also have a 'feature' that drops the glass down a smidge on opening a door so that when the door is shut it can tuck under the seal then rises again to stop water ingress....
IMHO if you want frameless doors I would just buy a TT as it has them by design... doing this on an A3 seems problematic at best...

It's not something I want to do, just looked good... Wanted to see if it has/had been done.
the way i would see it being done is to trasfer the frame from the door to the car, you would have to have a series of rods welded to the pillar from which would hold the frame in place where it would be if still attached to the door,
failling part you have to open the window to get out the car and be able to close the window from out side
= pointless lol

Not all pillarless windows require to be tucked up inside the seal, many of them just make a seal against the window rubber. In theory i'm it could be done, but not really worth it, and you'd probably have all sorts of wind noise and water ingress issues to deal with. Not worth it just for a car door to look a bit better when its open.

My old coupe had frameless doors...
and the windows didn't move as you opend and closed the doors ....
my wife's Tigra however is the same and it's windows move down half an inch before you open the door and then back up as you close it

Same eith my M3 coupe
the window drops abit and lifts when closes, my partners brother does body work thinks it be done easy! But yeah I agree not worth the hassle or the trouble of ruining a decent car

I like the originality of the idea, but i personally don't think it would be worth doing for the likely cost to do it properly.
