Well I've a lot of work to do on my A3 sportback so I decided to start a thread.
Firstly here's the spec and some pics of the car....

70,000 miles (was 53,000 when I got it in Dec 09)
Moro Blue Pearl - code P7
DSG/paddleshift
Full Vienna Leather Trim
18" 5-arm S-Line Alloys
Open Sky Sunroof
Heated Front & Rear Seats
Auto dipping, folding door mirrors
Rain & Light sensor packs
Electric front seats
Xenon+ headlamps with power wash
Luggage Pack
Audi Garage door open system
Rear blinds pack
Climate controlled air-con
Rear park aid
Front sensors (not oem and I still haven't figured out how they work...on car when I got it)
Parrot MKi9200 (fitted myself)

Apologies for the crap pictures, I need to get my D90 out when I get all the work done.

So, as I've posted here the cylinder head is leaking coolant. I'll be getting the work done in the next couple of weeks. Seeing as the head & work will be expensive I've stuck a few "extras" in there that the missus won't notice ;) here's the list of parts I'm getting

8P0 963 555 A - heater element-seat rear (The passenger side rear element is broken)
1ML 805 903 - Cupra R front splitter (Not sure if this will go on the A3 or on my vRS)
8P2 713 463 - (or 8P0 864 261 Q - 1NK Brushed aluminium) (Cover around gear stick is scratched, it annoys me!)
8P0 863 351 A 5PR - Trim for rear heated seats £13.30 (the trim is scratched and marked, again it annoys me ;) )
03G 103 351 B - cylinder head £943.00 (OUCH!)
Head gasket £35.00
Head bolts £5.00 each (ten required)
8P4 945 095 E - left outer tail light £84.20 (MY11 rear lights :D )
8P4 945 096 E - right outer tail light £84.20
8P4 945 093 D - left inner tail light £51.79
8P4 945 094 D - right inner tail light £51.79
06D 109 309 X - Fuel pump follower £25.60 (For my 2.0TFSI vRS)
N 901 293 01 - Hose (attachement/hinge for parcel shelf is broken)
8P0 862 528 - holder for covering retaining band (Need 2, the small clips that the parcel shelf is attached to by the strings)
8P4 867 240 4PK - b-pillar trim in black, right lower (Car has 2 mall holes drilled in this cover, looks like the were drilled to allow a dent to be removed)
4A0 867 276 - clips, qty 4 (for pillar above)
8P4 807 715 VMZ - frame black (frame around front grille, I know the car is dark blue but I'm gonna take a risk on the black frame for around the grille)
8P4 827 933 GRU - Spoiler, primed (Not sure which spoiler this is yet, the current brake light at the top rear has a crack and I think a small spoiler would suit, not the vortex one, anyone know the exact part numbers???)
Lamin-X subtle tint front heads 7 fogs (ordered already)

That's the list I have bar a few things I need numbers for.
Looking for the part no. for the rear valence that will fit my 8P?
Any opinions on changing the badges to black too?...might just wait until I see what the front grill frame looks like.
Will upgrade the lights - side lights to Philips Blue Vision
Also the leds rear number plate, anyone know the number?
Will get the alarm beep coded in too.
Oh and an RNS-e obviously. But I think I need the DIN conversion done too?

Oh and the wheels........
Please close your eyes as they may bleed when you see this (I mean that in a bad way!!)

This is my wife's car currently. I'll probably be selling the vRS soon as the petrol is killing me. If so then I'll take the A3 :) and she can get a soccer mom car ;)
So its her car and look what she's done to the wheels :puke2:

IMAG0405-1.jpg

All 4 are like that!
They're originals so I'm going to get some new rims for it and get these 4 refurbed properly by nu-luk wheels up north and then sell them.

As for the new rims, I like the TTRS and the CH's but every skobe has CH reps here :(

Might be able to get the rear sb lights cheaper for you or have you ordered them already?

No not ordered them yet.
I got your PM with the price....the prices above were from Agnew Audi in Belfast, I just left them in from my own to-do list :)
How much for them + shipping to Dublin (Ireland)? PM me instead if you like.

Did you want all those parts now, as maybe I can get a price for the lot?

Nice spec car, plans sound good

I went to NuLuk for a price this week, they've definitely the best set up in the country but they know how to charge! £340 for the set!

Audi LED Number Plate Bulb Canbus No Error Warning | eBay UK
Those are the LED number plate lights i have in mine. A lot of the guys on here have had issues with the LEDs bringing up lights errors on the DIS but these ones seem to work well.

If your ever up north i can do the alarm beep for you

Speedlines would look well on that SB

Good luck with it!

If you can get me a price that'd be great!
I'll pm you the VIN no just in case you need to cross check the parts....some of them for colours
e.g. these might not be the right colour codes
8P4 867 240 4PK - b-pillar trim in black, right lower
8P0 863 351 A 5PR - Trim for rear heated seats

The rear spoiler I'm looking for is the s-line spoiler but I believe I need a new light too?
I don't need the heater element for the rear seat right now as the baby seat is on that side :)

Ordered some lights for it there from powerbulbs (-10% discount :D ) to match up with the xenons
Philips Blue Vision W5W
Philips Blue Vision Ultra H7 4000K
Philips Blue Vision LED C5W Festoon 6000K

Well fitted the lights...

Philips Blue Vision W5W
Philips Blue Vision Ultra H7 4000K
Philips Blue Vision LED C5W Festoon 6000K

Had no problems with the LED festoon for the number plate lights.

Ordered up the cylinder head, gasket, bolts, the fuel pump follower (for my vRS), and the trim for the rear heated seats dials.
Will be delivered today/tomorrow hopefully.

Still looking for the rest NHN...

She's going in next Tuesday for the cylinder head work. Its getting harder to start her, having turbo drop outs (limp mode).
Getting good at getting up to speed on the motorway, into a gap, put it in neutral, switch her off, back on again, then she's back ;)
Gonna get them to do an egr delete too while its in.

Anyone know how often the DSG service should be done?? No problems with it just would like to know when to be doing it.

Well got it back after the cylinder head replacement.
Have done 3,000+km on it so far so well run in. When it was being rebuilt I got a BG flush done on the oil and fuel system.
Haven't had limp mode since, running nice and smooth. The gear changes were getting a bit slow/notchy when in D or S mode so went ahead and got the DSG service done this morning. What a difference it made, can't believe a change of oil in the DSG box could make such a difference :D
Bad news is that theres a slow leak from the TB side of the engine which might be the crankshaft oil seal :/

Going to apply the lamin-x later if the rain holds off.
Regarding the black optic grille. If I get that is it just the chrome surround that I get in black or would I get a black front grille?
Also does anyone know how I can get the Audi rings in the same black?
Would love to get the s-line badge and make it the same black with just the red square on the S......hmmmm.

Nightmare, crank oil seal as expected :(
Parts are ordered should have them Tuesday, cheap enough. Ordered a new undertray and also replace the current cracked one and also the 2 "spoilers" under the wheels.
Expensive bit is the labour.

Right been busy sorting out my vRS to sell then it sold in a day so worth it I suppose :)

Back to the A3, I got those bits I ordered and got the seal replaced so she's running well.
Have had to replace the 2 front tyres within a week, one had a massive sidewall bulge and the other had a puncture right on the corner/edge. Just put 2 old part-worns I had lying about until I get a chance to replace them.

So new undertray is fitted. The front wheel spoilers wont go on though as they forgot to give me the rivets for it grrrr.
Replaced the rear heated seats dial panel as it was scratched to bits YAY :D

Put this order in this morning mainly small bits..
8P4 867 240 4PK - b-pillar trim (right lower) IN BLACK
4A0 867 276 - clips (qty 4)
Current interior B-pillar trim is damaged from where the previous owner had attached 4 clips to it for some reason?

N 901 293 01 - Hose (for parcel shelf)
8P0 862 528 - holder for covering retaining band (Need 2)
These are the clips for holding up the parcel shelf, they always get pulled out/go missing when there's a buggy in the boot so I've ordered 5.

8P2 713 463 - (or 8P0 864 261 Q - 1NK Brushed aluminium) COVER AROUND GEAR STICK
As the description says the brushed silver cover around the DSG stick, its all scratched to bits.

N 038 549 1 Split rivet 8x12 (8 needed)
These are for the front wheel spoilers

8P0 853 833 C Left Rear Wheel Spoiler
8P0 853 834 C Right rear Wheel Spoiler
N 908 214 01 Expanding Nut 4,8X19,6 Need 6
N 910 570 01 Oval head panel screw 5x16 Need 6
These are rear wheel spoilers, I'd decided to get them to see how they look :)

8P0 809 589 Tie Down Eye (for holding down net) X 2
8P0 803 849 G Left Front Mounting
8P0 803 849 F Left Rear Mounting
N 904 880 01 Hex nut with washer M6 Need 4
There are 2 of the tie down eyes missing from the boot for the cargo net.

8D0 601 173 D z37 Cap wheel bolt anti-theft grey metallic
321 601 173 A Cap wheel bolt NEED 4
Caps for wheel bolts, some pr1ck robbed these off my front right wheel GRRR.

As you can see it's all minor annoying OCD stuff in the list ;)

I'm still going to order the MY11 rear lights off NHN sooner rather than later.
The front grill is going to be changed, I'm thinking of going the same route as wes3570 or Alexx B3.
Can anyone explain exactly why the S3 grill Alexx B3 bought here won't fit my 05 facelift 8P2?

I could go the official route and just get the black surround....
8P4 807 715 VMZ - frame black (frame around front grille)
but I'm not sure the black surround will suit the grey grill I've got????

I also want to get the spoiler that itwasntme187 has, just a matter of finding one.
Also I love this rear diffuser here but I don't think it will fit my bumper plus the fact some tard in the tesco car park drove into the bumper and cracked it and drove off again :banghead: so I could nearly replace the bumper itself with one with a diffuser already on it. If I get a diffuser on the back it'll need side sills too, hmmmm ;)

Feck it NHN just sent you a PM, I want those lights :D

PS I'll get more pics up, no point in a mod thread without pics

Hi mate, in your original post i noticed you have listed 'dipped and folding mirrors'
Is this where the mirrors dip down when you select reverse? i would like to know more info on those mirrors if it is that type. would love to retrofit that on mine.

also great progress! like you i suffer (a bit) from OCD but i have been taking an easier approach on fixing up the niggly things and taking my time on them.
also thanks for all the part numbers! it really does help and make a very informative thread!

No its when they go darker, as in auto dimming, not dipping as 8P doesnt support that function.

same colour as mine :)

IMG_0139-1.jpg

Brilliant, that's a pic I've been looking for. I want to change to those alloys :)

Btw nhn was right about the mirrors, they dim.
I have the mirrors you're talking about on my scirocco, its only the passanger side one that moves down and in when you go into reverse.
Works well.

thats like a wish list on extras. most i have ever seen on one car.

Well just went back to the local Audi parts and ordered up the black grille surround (8P4 807 715 VMZ - frame black).
Decided I'd give it a try and if I don't like it I'll just sell it on.
They only had a couple of small parts in off my list (wheel nut caps and the yokey's to hold up the parcel shelf) but the others should be in monday.

Did a scan on the car this morning and got these DTC's...

Folks, anyone know will this size wheel fit the 8P2 a3??
6J x 15 ET55, 5x112 PCD
They're steelies of a VW T4. If they fit I'll be getting winter tyres put on them.
Thanks!

Getting There!!!
Finally, I'm getting a BNS5.0 off s3kel here :)
So I need to convert from single to double din.
Can someone please post the exact part numbers I need (for the cage, buttons, button facia) as my local dealers won't order them for me unless I have EXACT part numbers. I'm going to dremel my current climate control unit to fit it so don't need a new one of them. Here's what I have now....
20111013_123839.jpg

EDIT:

Oh forgot I did a few vagcom tweaks.

Alarm blip is now on for lock/unlock :)
Tightened the assisted steering (from 8 to 2)
Changed the seatbelt chime from Europe-NCAP 91sec to N.A/Canada 6sec
Enable both rear fogs
Enable flashing brakes under hard braking
Enable front fogs as drl and dropped the light they put out
Enable the instrument cluster to be always lit

Hello, just thought i'd let you know that the thread isn't a total ghost town. I'm following the updates.

Looks like the last owner was a bit of a careless git. Good to see you are giving it some TLC.

looking good so far mate. Can you tell me how much the DSG service was? and is there any specific time it should be done at? thanks

Just did a few quick bits there.
Removed the fog lamps and put lamin-x on them, very easy and quick.
Back in with VCDS....
Changed Steering Assist from 2 to 3 (just testing whats best)
Turned blip when unlocked off, only wanted it to go when on.
Turned DRL on Turned % down to 60
Turned fogs on as DRL too, again set to 60% full light, don't want to be blinding anyone.
Can't seem to change the comfort indication from 3 to 5, comfort indication is ticked and works but there's nowhere to change it in adaption??
Wanted footwell lighting to be on at about 20% while driving but can't enable it. Might not be available on 8P2's??
Going to remove the footwell lights and give them a red tint :)

55_UK
It cost me €175 all in and took approx 30-45mins. Done while I watched :)
Not sure about the mileage it should be done at, I got it done as the gear changes were becoming slow.

hi mate, can you get a pic of the DRL on the front? from what you just wrote it sounds as though you have DRLs on the headlights and fog lights enabled?

footwell can only be on when the doors are opened. it is wired up to the interior illumination.
You can have ambient footwell but thats a custom install which i have done. it works perfectly with the ambient dimming as i have wired it into the ashtray light.

comfort indicators are a 8P3 feature i think.

Yeah I have the small headlight bulbs in the main cluster (I have xenons) and the fogs on too. Both are active as DRL.
When it gets dark the Xenons come on and the fogs go off automatically.

Ah cool, I realised that they only come on with the door open alright.
Is it difficult to do the custom wiring job?

I definitely have comfort indicators but I just can't adjust the flashes from 3. Range can be from 1 -5, maybe that is the feature of the 8P3?

Rear wiper has been on the blink lately and stopped all together yesterday, no surprise for an VAG car really :banghead:
Off with the boot trim and plenty of water dripping out of the unit again no surprise!
Don't have a replacement yet so just opened it in-situ to have a gander, YUCK :sadlike:

Grease + Muck + Water = grime.
So I just filled up the gap between the wiper motor and the boot lock with paper towel until I get a new one....don't want to be buying a lock too!!
btw part number on my car,
8E9 955 711 C
Theres a rev E about with hopefully a better seal to stop the water getting in??? so I'll try get that.

Is there a guide to the vag com changes like the flashing brakes and alarm blip, also what do you mean by tightened the steering using vag com?

Chris

Chris

check the FAQ... there is already plenty of info on that stuff in there (by the way that thread is a sticky on the first page of the 8p forum)

Well I haven't had much of a chance to do anything on her in a while.
The black grill surround is still to go on.
I've ordered up 3 black s-line badges to replace the silver ones and the black audi logos but I'll see what it all looks like before I commit to the replacement :)
Going to have a look at the front sensors too. I'm putting in the BNS 5.0 at the same time so maybe I can hook up a park assist button?
She needs 2 new front tyres and the alloys badly need to be refurbed. I may actually buy a set different alloys and refurb the original RS6's and then sell them off.

Had a couple of weird stalls in the last month (posted a thread on it). Will hook the VCDS up to it tonight to see if she's throwing up a code.

My VW Scirocco is due to go back in the next week (hopefully) and replaced by a new Skoda Yeti Elegance 1.6TDI Black with tinted windows and cream leather interior. I know as soon as it arrives my missus will rob it off me and I'll be driving the Audi permanently...not such a bad deal. This means its mod central ;)

Cant get any OPS on the bns mate, only basic front parking sensors via the dash button, so beeps only & if its original audi then would maybe get dis menu's to change tone & volume.

Well the Yeti arrived and as expected the wife has robbed it :bye:
I've been fairly sick now for a while so haven't had a chance to do any mods, its hasn't stopped me ordering bits though ;)

Just ordered up the last bits for the double din conversion...

Hopefully have that lot in a few days so I'll fit the BNS5.0.
I'll "let" the missus take the Yeti one of the days early next week so I get the A3 for the day and do all the mods I have at present.
I'm looking forward to seeing the black grille surround.

Forgot to ask about this too....
I have a parrot mki9200 fitted but ever since it was in the parrot only comes from the front speakers?
When I get a call the front speakers mute and the parrot comes on but the back speakers keep playing the radio?
Anyone know whats going on and how to fix it?
