8L has a bumper cut-out so will look pretty silly if you try to hide the pipework. Unless you're going to fill in the cut-out?

mine hasn't got a cut out, so I will need to do this myself. i like the fact that it will be hidden, i just don't want it to look chavy sticking out. need to look at some more pics....

Having a decent exhaust isn't chavy, having a ****ty ebay back box is.

I suggest you have a listen to the "discreet" downturned boxes, (ie miltek) because they make your exhaust sound like a diesel and offer hardly any flow gains. You'd be better keeping the stock back box, and fitting a 1.9TDI center section.

i agree with the ebay comment. still unsure on whether to be subtle with the look or not. i will keep you updated.

Hidden back boxes tend to sound noisy inside the car, maybe you'll like that. I recommended buying a system for a mk4 golf and then cutting the rear bumper as and valance yourself. Have a look look at my old build thread for details.

Its all a matter of personal preference - i like to keep it subtle and hidden. Which is the reason I have done what Klappe suggests and kept the backbox but run the tdi centre section, plus i dont want to make the car too loud so i dont see the point in spending more money on a custom backbox that is not much louder than the standard

Hi dude, all the above comments are valid, but iv never been a fan of the exhaust sitting under the bumper, and the same goes for cutting the bumper up, iv an a3 with s3 back bumper and twin exhaust, dont cost loads either, but transforms the back end :)

I was going to get a hidden backbox then i thought why spend like 350 for something you can't see? I've been in a car with hidden miltek and it sounded. wry boomy

going for the hidden look iv decided. Not to worried about the noise inside the car, maybe it will bother me a bit on long journeys. I will moan about that another time =]

cheers for the help, will post some pics when i get my wallet out and start buying!
