Hey fellas, i had an accident last night which led to me hitting the o/s/f wheel into a kerb pretty hard. I was doing around 40 mph. It hit sideways and now the o/s/f wheel has got positive camber and is turned to the right. Ive had it in the garage on axel stands and couldnt see anything bent/broken. Also i took it into protyre and they have confirmed that something is bent but they dont know what :(. Its at a friends garage and well start srtipping and looking tonight.

Anyways just looking for some advice on what to look for or any ideas?

Cheers people!!

Full alignment check and underside inspection. All you can do really.

Ive had it into protyre and they said that they didnt want to get involved with it. They showed me that the gap between the tyre and shock on the o/s/f is bigger than on the n/s/f. They said there is definately some thing bent but dont know what. They were guessing at the hub but didnt want to confirm as they didnt know.

Ive left it at a good friend garage for him to have a look at tonite. Hopefully he will notice something lol.

Also do you know if my car would have needed S3 hubs to do the S3 brake conversion? I ask as i bought it with S3 fronts on it and am unsure of what hubs will be on there?

i did something like that on my Mk4 golf early 2010 in the snow... it turned out that the wack was enough to move the chassis one finger width to the right (damage on front passenger side wheel) and inturn the car was written off :(

good luck with it mate

I did this in my BM, hit a stupid island in the middle of the road at about 35mph, scared the **** out of me but couldn't find anything wrong with the car afterwards! But it wasn't worth much anyway so i didnt care. Hopefully it's just a simple alignment job good luck mate!

I did something similar in my Ibiza, hit the O/S/F wheel and the N/S/F seat air bag went off. O/S/F Alloy totaled. Fixed on the insurance. Car reupholstered as they couldn't find a match it. 6 months in a new courtesy car, put 15K on it. :whistle2:

Hoping your damage ain't too bad but it's rarely good when it's not obvious.

They are called "roundabouts".

You can't post this without some pics!
Hopefully just a wishbone required and not anything too sinister.
Good luck with the fix.

Rite weve had it on the ramp for an hour and cant see anything bent or miss-aligned. We are all a bit baffled to be honest. The only thing we can see is that where the shock bolt comes throught the top mount, on the o/s/f looks slightly ****** compared to the n/s/f. So we're taking a bit of a punt on the shock and top mount. The lower arm looks fine with no bends or anything. It looks a mirror image of the n/s. The only other thing we can think of is the hub itself but im really not sure.

Any thoughts, or im going to take a punt with my friend on the top mount and shock??

strangely the wishbone looks fine, no stress marks or markings on the welds. The bottom of the wheel seems to be in the right position, ite the top of the wheel which seems to be sticking out

This screams wishbone but without seeing it - bit obvious but are you sure you haven't just knackered the rim?!

No, the rim is definately fine. Had protyre check it out. Even they said the lower arm is fine. They were guessing at either shock or hub :(

I did this and bent the wishbone on my old 3.2.

If the bottom of the wheel was out of place i would be going with wishbone too, but its only the top which is out of place, the bottom seems to be in the right place

ouch hope you get this fixed bud , top mounts are cheap as chips mate if you suspect that do that first i think they were only around £30 for mine from TPS i bought two of them , my top mount started making some bad noises not long ago due to a worn bearing it was totally nackered in fact ) try the cheap stuff first i would

Well ive ordered a shock and top mount. Came to £92 inc which i thought was pretty good! Fingers crossed it fixes it lol

I did the same thing in my A4 and it turned out to be a bent shock, three garages couldn't find anything bent and a four wheel alignment showed the camber was well out. Hop you solve it: it's a nightmare when it pulls to one side.

Well another chap at my friends garage thinks it may be the hub thats bent. Ive ordered the whole lot as a friend runs the local TPS and i can drop the bits i dont nee back. Fingers crossed for tomorrow night

Right, the cars is all sorted. Just having 4 wheel alignment tomorrow morning. In the end I had the hub, bearing, shock and top mount changed. A combination which fixed it completely. However it wasnt the cheapest of things and with christmas I certainly could of done with out shelling out £500 on a damn car. Oh well, at least Hermans all fixed!
