Hi all, looking for an electrical/RNSE expert please!
I currently own a 8P S3 which I have had for last 4 years. The car as standard came with RNSE/Bluetooth/Steering wheel controls.
The problems started approx 3 weeks ago after 4 years faultless service from the car. Initially the RNSE telephone function stopped working with the message "Telephone not available" displayed when you pushed the TEL tab at the bottom of the screen. The steering wheel function buttons also stopped working (the speech and mode buttons) and my telephone no longer connected to bluetooth (no connection bongs etc).
Initially I though the problem was with a software/coding issue, but then found that overnight the cars battery was going flat. Since the car was going in for service, i got them to change the battery as it was pretty tired.
The following day the battery was dead again. The AA came out and got me jump started but following a bit of diagnosis he confirmed that even with the ignition off and all lights etc off there was still a 2.4 amp drain on the battery?.
Took the car to the local audi specialist( russells automotive - V good guys btw) who confirmed that if they disconnected the RNSE, the power drain disappeared.
So the exam question, Whats the problem?. Obviously disconnecting the unit cures the problem but is not a long term solution although does provide a useful storage space in the dashboard!
Given the RNSE unit functions perfectly apart from the telephone function I am starting to think that maybe the bluetooth module is somehow at fault? I would hate to replace the RNSE to find it wasnt that all along. Is there a way to disconnect the BT module and see if that makes a difference?
Any help or advice greatly received, beers in it for whoever can help!
Thanks for reading and Merry Xmas!
