Hi. I'm hoping someone here can help, hard to describe really ! Car is 2.0T S-Line SE 2wd. When the car is moving, in gear and my foot is off the accelerator, there is noise which sounds like the exhaust is blowing. The higher the rev’s, the noisier it is. The sound goes away as soon as your touch the accelerator pedal. Its only noticeable when the window is down, so just annoying at times.

Probably related is when the car is standing still and you rev it, as the revs drops there is a vibrating kind of sound from underneath.

I’m guessing (and hoping) it could be a heat shield ?

Hi, Mine does exactly the same.

I've had all the underneath looked at (for a different reason) and nothing was found.
I've also had the Diverter valve changed to rev D and still get the noise.
The only ray of hope I have, is that it's been doing it for the two years I've had the car and nothings gone pop yet. Just a bit embarrassing in car parks lol.

Ah, was wondering if it might be the DV. I know what you mean, it can be a bit embarrassing, just need to touch the accelerator when driving past anyone !

:applaus:I always thought that my car was quite fast... but i didn't think it was Formula 1 fast.

Found a really good garage near me (The VASS Specialists) who have tracked down the noise. The problem is the turbo wastegate actuator rod that's vibrating when the engine isn't under load. Where the rod is connected to the wastegate there is a bit of play. I'm told that the worn bush cannot be bought separately, so its put up with the noise or change the turbo .... unless anyone knows different ???
