I was thinking of buying some oil for my TDi 140, but I notice on Quantum Oil Range - Synta, Longlife, Platinum that there are two types of oil; one for normal/regular servicing and one for longlife servicing, so I'm not sure which one I should get.

My A4 has only been serviced once in its life of only 34k miles, so I'm guessing I could get the longlife one; but would it make any massive difference if I got the regular one?

Hi.

I prefer to get the regular oil myself, since i change oil every 10k (fixed intervals) but if you wanted to service according to the DIS and prefer cheaper servicing, then longlife oil is meant for up to 20k services if i recall correctly. I'm not keen on the idea of the same oil degrading for 20k, but obviously VW and all the other companies haven't spent millions for nothing on developing this special type of oil. It costs more by the way for the longlife stuff.

Personal preference to be honest.

I thinks its 5W40 full synthetic, think 5W30 is ok though.

I'm with you on this. It might be a comfort thing, but I prefer annual fixed interval servicing to the variable thing where the same oil is sloshing around the engine for up to two years.

Longlife oil is low ash content so if you have dpf then thats the 1 advised by Audi the others create more soot

Just bought some mobil 1 esp 5w30 cost me £40 each bought 2 better than the average price of £51 each.
