How much do you pay for your annual service?

Hi all,

As I posted a little while ago, my A4 1.9 is due a service but after finding audi charge £280 for a service.. im now going to look at independant garages.

So Im just wondering how much you guys pay for you annual services?

My problem is I need to find someone who can actually stamp my service book (any way of knowing which garages do this?), as if I didnt need this I have a friend whos the head mechanic for Audi who Id get to service my car!

So, what do you pay for your annual "major" service?
 
It's usually about £130 for labour and oil, I supply the parts which are probably another £50.

They always stamp the book, it's not an Audi stamp, but as an 8 year old car approached 160k I can live with that.

really? i didnt know audi offered this?

I see they do an interim service for like £160... do I just call my local audi dealership to book the oil change and theyl only charge £100 for it?
 
Stoke Audi does the service for £99 if you live nearby.

Ive started to service mine myself and got all the bits all in for 60ish quid, who really cares about a stamp in the book when atleast now I know its been serviced and I get the satifaction from doing it myself ;-)
 
I priced all the parts over here in Ireland. Oil, Oil filter, fuel filter ,air filter, pollen filter and bung for Audi dealer here in Ireland . €109 including Vat

Very expensive so I buy them in Northern Ireland cheaper
 
OK, not an Audi, but I have pretty much serviced my B5 Passat from 100k onwards, it's now on 187k or so.... Audi service history doesn't really mean much after 100k miles, so long as it's been serviced, and there's proof of it, I see no problems, it's hardly going to effect resale value of cars 7year+ old.
 
My 2003 1.9 A4 B6 is due for a service shortly and I will be doing it myself. £30ish of decent PD oil, then oil filter and sump plug washer for another £8 or so and an hour or so on the driveway one Saturday afternoon when its not raining... sorted!

I know a couple of people with a VAGCOM device that can check for any error codes and reset the service indicator afterwards too.

As has been mentioned before, a stamp in the book whether its Audi or not is hardly going to have any effect on the residual value of an 8+ year old car, so why bother spending £100s!? As long as you keep a paper record of when the car was serviced and with what oil then its all part of the car's service history... :sm4:

These figures are based on 2.5 TDI - MIDLAND VW.

OIL SERVICE - £80
FULL SERVICE - £180 ( all parts OEM & includes oil, oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter etc )

The above prices are accurate as I had my car in last week for the full service, the price includes numerous other checks ( fluids / battery etc ) & a full diagnostic scan. They stamp your service book & reset your computer, would recommend :thumbsup:

Hey fella you dont really need VAGCOM to reset the service indicator unless changing from a variable to fixed servicing and vice versa!

I recommend changing the fuel filter, and sticking a can of injector cleaner in it between every 2 services, that's what I have done on mine, with no running issues at all.

Contacted Teesside Audi recently, they offered to do my oil change for £280! Before you think that is too expensive, they do change the filter as well, and not mention the sump plug.....bargain! :whistle2:
 
Got mine done the other day at my local Indy for £84.50 which I thought was'nt too shabby!
 
thanks guys, looks like i should actually ring my local audi directly first to check what they would charge- i just assumed they all charge the same!

I know what you guys are saying about older cars and service history... but mines only done 67k and has the full factory votex kit, so actually maintaining its full service history i think is cruicial to retaining a good resale value as its hard enough to find one currently with that sort of spec!

Well just called my local audi, they seem pretty fixed on doing it for £150 or to get pollen filter done aswell its £180.

Guess il have to shop around :(

Fair play mate, its entirely your call.

However, I think you will find that the resale value of a low mileage 2002 car such as yours with full Audi history will still only be marginally more than a similar with just a regular history... what you get back wouldn't be anywhere near as much as you had spent on having the main dealer services done.

Still, saying this, a 2002 1.9 TDi with only 67k is pretty rare :yes:
