hi, ive just bought an audi a4 avant tdi 130, i had so many cars over the past few years and i've always wanted one of these, so here i am, anyway, its not the sport model but it is fitted with the sport wheels, i was wanting to fit 19'' wheels to it but as its not a performance car as such i dont want to shell out on coilovers, can i fit the 19'' wheels and just lower it on springs? if so what drop could i get away with? any help would be much appreciated as this is my first audi, thank you

i've had a quick look around your site and ive found that the se model sits higher than the sport so i should be able to lower it a bit more, and 235/40/19 should fit fine with say a 40mm drop, perhaps more.

How many miles on the car? If the shocks have done big mile's you should also replace the shocks.. 25-30mm drop is good on a SE. 19's will look fine if low enough.

its just about to touch 93,000 miles, it seems to of had a good life, so do you recommend just replacing the springs and shocks then? any recommendations?

If it was me i would replace the shock's and springs Yes

I lowered my SE on Eibach springs a couple of weeks ago, they gave a 30mm drop over standard SE ride height and transformed it. I only swapped the springs, will save the shocks for another day, no negative's yet, although it is of course early days.

I would consider getting sport shocks too or used sport shocks off ebay with eibach springs. the sports shocks are shorter and should work better with lower springs. you can change the front from b6 to B5 perches also and will go 15mm lower automatically

you can go low on 19's easy enough just got to get the right et and tyre size. I'm running 19x9 Bentley wheel on my Avant with a 225/35 19 tyre and i'm pretty low

Hi Quattrojames

Can you give me a link to the springs, I have a se avant 2wd and would like the same look. Cheers

Whilst your thinking about springs, would it not be better to fit coilovers, so you can tweak the height according to your preference once fitted? That's what I'm considering for my Avant 130 TDI SE.

The Eibachs are great. £180 plus £100 to fit, and the car is transformed.

I got some cheap coilovers off of ebay. decent price £170ish. they feel fine the damping is only 30% increased thou. I'm on 18s thou.

Just got a set of s-line standard shocks & springs for £100 only covered 50k, BARGAIN......just got to fit them now!!
