Hey,

Just wondered what recommendations are there for tyres on the A3 - got the 2.0tdi with 18" 5spoke RS wheels?

got some tyres on there atm....tread is still aplenty but I get a lot of road noise from them....does my head in when on handsfree in the car...

Michelin pilot sport 3's i am running at the min and so far very happy, but everyone has the own preferences

How long have you had them on for Phil76 if you dont mind me asking?

Bridgestone potenza.. Came with it..(2.0tfsi Q) good in the dry and brilliant in the rain, done 6k on them so far:icon_thumright:

Go with the Michelin Pilot Sport 3s.

I have tried Pirelli and Good Year previously, and have found them far noisier than the Michelins. OK, you may have to spend an extra £5 a corner, but it's well worth it imho

Michelin PS2's

:faint: ...so they cost a few bucks then! May have to go with the PS3's when the time comes, first estimate looks like around £600 fitted?!?!

Michelin pilot super sports, forget the PS2 and PS3s, these are now in a different league.

Apparently on a par grip wise with the pllot sport cups of GT3 fame.

Doesn't look like they do a 225/40/R18 version just yet

I've got Continental Sport Contact 3. They are really grippy in all conditions but they are pretty noisy and haven't lasted very long. The fronts have only done about 7K miles and need replacing.

Same on mine mate - just done a 600 mile round trip to Cornwall and the road noise was quite noticable. Don't know whether its because the fronts are getting a bit low, apart from that I have been pretty happy with them. Were fine in last years snow too.

They were on my car when I got it but had plenty of life left in them. They are just and only legal now and the noise has definitely got worse as they've worn. They've been good tires, especially when compared to the SC2s which are by far the worst tire i've ever had. It's just that on a diesel motorway muncher I don't really need that kind of grip, I'd much rather have something with longer life and less noise. I'll probably go Falken as they were grippy enough, long lasting, relatively quiet and cheap on my last car.

Thy don't make a 18" pilot supersport.

Ps3 aren't as good as ps2! Maybe better all rounder but the ps2 is best. Just hard to find any I need two for my car ASAP!

PS2's all the way! Expensive route tho if you don't use them to their full potential :racer:

Wait for the pilot super sport, am sure they'll make it eventually.

I am waiting for them to produce the 255 40 20s and 285 35 20s I need, might be another 6 months!

Bridgestone RE050s, as fitted by Audi. 1st set lasted 18k, replaced with same, don't find them noisy at all. Tempted to try Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2's next time as they have great reviews.

I found the RE050's very noisy! Made it sound like there was a wheel bearing gone.

PS3's on at the moment, find them almost as good as PS2's and far less noisy. Expensive but the best.

hmmm see this is why i want to try and find some ps2's!! worst case ill go ps3 i guess..

Anyone tried Pirelli P Zero Rossos 92Y 225/40 18?

They're currently on my 07 2.0TDi 170 sport back but the rears are almost like slicks and can't be letting the wife out in it like that!

Only have the car three days so hard to judge, same size wheel on my previous 07 golf R32 and I switched from the factory Conti 3s to the Rossos and found them better all round but softer.

But not so worried about wearing them out so much this time as don't plan to cane the A3 as much as the R32!

Iv got those on my 8l, no complaints here. They stick well and not too bad in the wet. Although they are a little noisy on certain surfaces, but I found this too be the same with the contact sport 3s.

I so need to try something else, got a budget wheel/tyre package & tyres are shocking to the point i'd never believe! There is loads of tread left but they sound like thunder & cant even keep up with a vivaro round a roundabout without being at the point of understeer in heavy rain & that is just so wrong!

Falken FK452s seem to be getting great reviews on another thread so as they are good value I might try them

I,m running GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC there great tyres,, 19,s ofcoarse,,lol

I have just recently repaced 2 of my tyres to Michellin PS3's and are pretty quiet. Just waiting for the other 2 to wear down as they are noisey as hell ( Dunlop SportMAx ). I got extememely good prices for the PS3's at Costco of all places. Cheaper than on any internet sites and cost me £110 per corner. Worth a try if you have one near you.

Hi i was thinking of costco could possiby get it set up ,membership by my boss ,,did you get them to fit tyres as well ,also what other tyres do they sell? Cheers
