This is what im doing i know this is not the place but i think you guys have the most experience and knollage of this engine first im going to put it into a mk 2 golf i have the engine and box but no car at the mo so while looking for a car i can get the engine worked im looking for 300 bhp+ what is the best way of getting this ie head worked bottom end bored lightened and ballanced, also who does this type of work that specilises in audis dont want to use any cowboys.

Just fit steel rods and rebuild the rest as standard

300+ bhp is hard to get from these engines as i'm sure lots of people on here will tell you

If i was you i would jump straight onto a big turbo conversion.

Engine wise look at a set of rods and a gt28rs or ihi turbo. The mk2's I've worked on with 300hp are very 'wheel spin' happy, so high on your list should be getting yourself a LSD with the right gearbox(gear set)

This may be of interest to you....

Was going down the stock ecu route and having the immobliesr removed but now after reading up on this conversion im not going to, open to ideas on this. im doing away with the fly by wire and using cable, what loom should i buy to give me the least heartache think in the end the wiring is going to be my downfall so going to rely on the experts for that, going to need as much info on thar as possible. this is what i have so far

I made the loom up for this Golf... it was fairly easy tbh but if you go DTA for the ECU they do off the shelf looms...

I have done a couple of DTA installs now and really impressed with the ease of install and the mapping tools... the S60 DTA on this Golf didn't come with DBW but Bill has been testing it for a while now on his Ibiza race car and I believe that its now commercially available on the S60 but don't know about the S40...

Will i have to go big turbo to get 300 bhp?

Humm... good question...

K04 hybrids are capable of 300bhp so you can stick to the basic setup you currently have or you could go GT28rs or similar... you will need to up the injector size though...

Nice porting work im going for that when im ready, im by trade (not any more) a apprentice trained toolmaker so apreciate the work that goes in to the head, so now ive sourced where a lot of my parts and work is being done i still have a few more questions TURBO? can i still use mine it has no play in it but can i get the power i want from it ? manifold ive been looking at top mounting is this any good for what i want eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace. What cars can i source the injectors from i dont want to turn this project into a money pit so got to buy some second hand parts. engine block im fitting steel conrods and going to have it bored out and rebuilt what should i have it bored out to and i have a 20v block i could use it is non turbo so can it still be used with the other engine crank, the reason i ask as the bam block has to go into the crusher insurance company rules but i can have everything off it.Thanks so far for your input

Not the best manifold out there and you will find that a problem when fitting it as its made for a inline engine from a passat

Injectors you want some 440cc ones more commonly found on Volvo V70 i think, part numbers below

BOSCH 0280155968 42LB 440CC GREEN GIANT FUEL INJECTOR / Volvo 9202100 - Detailed info for BOSCH 0280155968 42LB 440CC GREEN GIANT FUEL INJECTOR / Volvo 9202100,fuel injector,BOSCH 0280155968 42LB 440CC GREEN GIANT FUEL INJECTOR / Volvo 9202100,028015

If yours need boring out and your going to fit steel rods you could look into stroker kits? I have one using the 1.9TDI crank and there are lots of other cranks out there that you can use

cheers for that there on the list what manifold would you recomend i want to top mount the turbo. also we need to talk about engines.

No point in going top mount with a k04 when JBS do a good manifold that should be on sale soon plus you would need to build a new down pipe with a top mount

stroker kits? nice to be able to throw the money at it but the car will only cost as much as them i need to to look at a more conservative route.

I have read that these dont spray right for the manifold and i would be better off with 550 injectors would the ones in the RS focus2 bosch 550 be any good?
