I have a couple of brochures from 1999 including an S3 launch one and an S3 launch price list from May 1999.
S3 Basic car cost = £22,553.00
VAT = £3,946.78
Total = £26,499.78
S3 OTR = £27,149.78 (includes Delivery, Number Plates, Road Tax, First Registration Fee)
Options were (all prices ex vat & for S3 only. Some of these options were considerably more for lower spec A3s)
Acoustic Parking = £297
6 CD Changer = £343
BOSE = £442
Auto dip rear mirror = £125
Cup holder in armrest = £34
Cassette holder in armrest = £61
Cruise control = £277
Electric sunroof = £682
Armrest = £91
Luggage net = £63
Metallic or Pearl paintwork = £367
Sat nav = £1471
Heated seats = £301
Alcantara/leather upholstery = no cost
Cloth upholstery = no cost
Unfortunately I don't have a scanner so I can't post stuff easily - however an existing photo I do have is the launch colour choice
I also have a Jan 2001 price list and brochure - this is when they dropped the price and the OTR price fell to £24,770.
Most of the options remained at the same cost, new options included (again ex vat):
Symphony single CD player = £179.57
Phone prep = £339.57
Multi-function steering wheel = £123.40
Satnav plus (5 inch screen) = £2148.93
TV function for above = £600
Centre rear 3 point belt & head rest = £74
Side airbags = £400

JCS356, What model are those prices for? Do you have the OTR price for a 130 TDI SE?

That was all for an S3 only. I've just re-read the original post and he asked for an A3 pricelist, not an S3 one! I only have the S3 launch one, but I do have a full range pricelist from 1st Sept 1999; and an A3/S3 one from Jan 2001. The options list for lower spec A3s were higher cost on some items - S3 was high spec anyway so you got some discount on options.
For example, Alcantara was only FOC option on a car that already had leather i.e. the S3. If your car had cloth as standard it was £1331 +vat for leather; and another £900+vat (Sport/SE/quattro) or £1177+vat(Standard) if you wanted the Recaros as well. It was the same cost for Leather/Alcantara for cloth equipped cars.
The 130TDI SE didn't exist in Sept 1999, closest was a 110TDi which was £19,360.70 OTR 3 door or £20,010.48 for the 5 door. These fell to £18,045 & £18,665 in Jan 2001.
Have it on mine, and it's so handy, and keeps the buttons on the centre console
Looking brand new. But it lacks a S3 logo on the steering wheel. Easy fix though.
Cheers for those prices, I was looking to see what my 03 Plate 130 SE was new.
It's got the full Alcantara interior, CD Changer and Armrest too
