I have a HID kit on the A4. But it's off my Vectra which i fitted to the vectra in 2005.
1 keeps switching off and failing to fire. So it's time for new ones.
They're 6000k and abit blue. I'm not sure if that's down to them being old.
Can anyone advise a kit and a temp to go for?
I don't want mcdonalds carpark special blue. Nor do I want sunset orange.
White if pos...

I recently did a HID upgrade on our Porsche (before I sold her) and it was a really good quality kit, simple to fit and was a good price. I was impressed with the quality and fit. I used a 4500K lamp and it was very very slightly blue tinged but not that you'd notice.

I can let you know the details and website if interested.

4300K is oem. If you want them a bit 'crisper' than that then probably 5000k is about right. Mine are 6000k and a bit too blue, they do also get bluer as they get older.

6000k is for a pure White light then the higher it goes ie 8000k is slightly blue/ purple tint etc other way ie 4500k has more of a yellowy/ orange colour.

If you google hid spectrum in images it shows you :)

Cheers Leigh, i understand the temp spectrum. I was more meaning has anyone tried 5k and found it to be a ok shade of white.

I have 4300K OEM and they are more than white enough.... all manufacturers use this spec so it's good enough for me....

I had fitted 5k and found them too yellowy , they were brighter! ! The very next day I ordered the 6k bulbs as the 5k bulbs did not match LED side light bulbs I fitted ! And 6k is not IMO too blue !
