Hi guys,

My mate has a B5 RS4 pushing approx 450Bhp. His clutch is just starting to slip when both blowers come in on full boost.

Does a clutch change require an engine pull or can the box be seperated with the engine in situ?
Also, the car has covered nearly 90k miles, is the standard RS4 clutch good for that power or should he get an upgrade?

He's not looking to improve power, but he DOES give the car a very good drive! (Been a rally driver and co-pilot he's got a lot of experience under belt after following his dads footsteps)

Cheers,

Dan

Just changed mine for a Loba 650nm one. Its 8 hours labour at a specialist. If he wants to retain the stock feel then a standard one is good enough IMO.

As Davey says, stock clutch is fine for c520-530 bhp. I've just fitted a Helix uprated clutch and Fidanza flywheel which is good for 600+.

Get a updated clutch, stock oem clutch is not upto it IMO

im at 485hp 660nm and when car was at 460hp 600nm on a brand new genuine oem clutch, couldn't cope with it, std RS4 clutch was designed to handle 440nm

im not saying buy loba but if you do drive your car hard stock is not upto it IMO, for every day driving oem are fine

not actually true tho...

i used to run satans child on a totally stock drivetrain inc clutch and twin mass f/w... this was running between 500- 600 bhp.... its all in your mapping and your driving..

i am sure administrators will chime in here as many of you may not belive me, but he will tell you this is genuine...

jack...

your very much 1 of very few at that power you say as most concur a uprated clutch is needed, and defo is needed on my rs4 at 660nm, but is how you drive like you say jack, my own oem never been could take over 2000rpm launch and thats from new.

Cheers for input guys, He's now signed up to ASN and has read this thread. He has got the car booked into Audi for them to do to the work he was quoted a reasonable price including a full service I think.

Cheers,

Dan
