The TQS Owners thread

Tried looking at the pics on ETKA at work but doesnt show much as usual as its just one pic for all quattro models. But yeah from what i can see definately doesnt attach to the suspension. Its just extra bracing for the bodywork to stop asmuch flexing. My old EK4 Civic had the same. 2 studs on the inner wings for the strutbrace not even linked to the suspension.

The S3 has 3 studs each side on the body work around the top mounts.

Aye i know. Will be fitting a strutbrace to the gf`s leon at some point in the future so will be cracking out the drill lol.

Don't give in Syvo! I'll be holding off flogging mine for a while I think, at least into the new year as I still like it and enjoy not forking out horrendous payments on it...

i shall not give in i shall go one better and do more work to my car lol. this way it will result in me wanting to keep it longer.

dont do it reesy dont move to the dark side that is S3

So effectively the same setup as mine? If so, good choice, they are a lot better then our stock brakes, which appear to be made out of cheese..

mine stop well at the mo carnt wait get these things on.

going see a trimmer next month about retrimming my dash seatsdoor cards and roof.

leather dash in same royal blue colour dash is not with seats to match although the seats will have a diamond shape inprint in them which will be repeated on the roof liner and door cards.

i aint telling the mrs she will go ape s**t if she found out my excuse is got them done cheap lmao

In our spring/damper setup, there is flex within the strut towers w.r.t the chassis rails. The brace doesn't stop the suspension flexing, it stops the body flexing at the struts (transfers load evenly across them whilst cornering). So really, the brace should be connected to the chassis as well, at the firewall say (like on the S3 and TT), but most aftermarket kits don't do this...... :/ I still might get one though and see if I can make it fit.

It will fit. Loads of people fit them. Just have to lay it in place, drill holes and use bolts and nuts from inside the arch instead.

solved my car tunning addiction lol buying a hardtail mountain bike next month so car tunning will be very slow over crimbo period.
as i stoped skating last year been board with nothing to do except play with the car so off to the jumps and forests we go oooo yeh

Guys, I'm really after a Jabbasport heat shield. If you know anyone selling one, or know where I can get one, please let me know :)

You want buy DVD?

need some advice, i bought my qts a few weeks ago and it makes a kind of rubbing noise when ever you turn to the right. I had a look and theirs nothing touching the wheels. any ides

thanks in advance mark

Mine does this as well. You can try a few things:

- Loosen your o/s wheel bolts, jack the wheel up and tighten them as much as you can holding the wheel still. Then lower the wheel back down and tighten to 120Nm. Might be that last time the bolts were tightened with the wheel up, there was still some misalignment which was compounded when the wheel was tightened on the ground (unable to adjust itself because of the grip). I found this helped on mine a bit.
- Replace o/s wheel bearing
- Replace o/s anti-roll bar bushing on that side
- Replace o/s track-rod and/or rod-end
- Alternatively, check hub torques and get a wheel alignment, might help.

Aside from that, I can only think it's more a suspension issue.

is this noise at the front or rear if rear i would go with drop links, if front could be drop links or driveshaft or arb bushes

Yeah its the front o/s think its defo the bearing. Is it worth doing both sides if it is the bearing ?

I have had a wheel bearing go on cars before, and it's like a drumming noise, as if the back window of the car is ope, whereas I have a rotational noise that sounds like an old fashioned kettle boiling...Benn under the car with it jacked up and can't hear anything, had the car jacked up and got it up to about 25mph and couldn't hear anything either, it only starts at around 30-40 mph, but once started will squeak even at 5mph. Any ideas?
