I'm still getting limp mode but it seems to be randomly, I can't always replicate it.

Can anybody think of anything else I can check. I've replaced all the vacuum lines, including the one in the ecu, cleaned the vnt with mr muscle (twice) and checked all hoses for splits.

The fault code I get is 000575 - intake manifold pressure 17-00 - Control Difference.

I've measured block 3 on VCDS and the actual is usually lower than the specified is this normal? I did have oil in the pipe in the ecu so I sprayed the map sensor with wd40 but this doesn't seem to do alot. Is the map sensor likely to be faulty?

Thanks

I'd be using brake cleaner on the map sensor instead of coating it in a lubricant as it could give a false reading.

What engine is it ?

Cheers bradderz, I'll give that a try tomorrow. It's a 1.9 tdi AFN

I haven't. Would that cause limp mode too?

It wouldn't run great put it that way !!

EGR's are s*** they always f*** up and clog the engine intake full of S***

I had the same problem.
Test it on VCDS Basic Setting, Block 11 and see if the actuator is moving up and down every 10 seconds. If it is, make sure it is moving all the way. Mine stuck slightly, after cleaning, at the extreme of travel. Another clean, whilst moving it with a GS sorted the problem. You feel the carbon crack inside, and the Mr Muscle can then dissolve the gunk.
Once it is free, you should just be able to move it all the way with your finger.

Just a quick update to this, my fault code has now changed to: 00519 - Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71) 28-00 Short to Plus. Is this the MAP sensor? And is it possible to get these changed on the 97 AFN engine when they are inside the ECU?

Thanks

Hi PaulF thank you for your reply, sorry I have only just seen it, I have mr muscled it twice without any noticeable effects. Cheers

Thought so, any ideas on how I can go about replacing it?

I'm looking at getting another ECU from eBay to take the MAP sensor out of. Would the MAP from an ECU for an AHH engine work in my AFN? The part numbers are the same except mine has FL at the end compared to just F on the eBay one.
