and the mod bug bites again......

lower, new rear lights, some decent mats thats it imo the car looks good as it is

Hey guys, interior pics are gonna have to wait until i get home again, ended up staying in the pub a little longer than expected, was the mates birthday so its acceptable ha!
I've got the S-line mats which i bought from the mighty ebay, they came Wednesday and make the interior look so much smarter
Forgot to PM NHN so will be doing that now! about the rear lights, having looked at the My09 and My11 now gonna get the My11, think they'll suit the car better

Moag, coilovers are on the list once the wraps been done, the wrap is the first 'big' thing i'm doing to the car, followed by coilovers, either refurb and respray current alloys or swap for the 19's
i'm gonna keep my rear-wiper for now but have a think whether to use it or lose it between now and the wrap, de-badging will be done at the same time as the wrap

Lingy: so am i able to change the badge at the bottom of the steering wheel?

£176.50 BRAND NEW DELIVERED is a beautiful price.
It'll be the best £176.50 you have ever spent, or will ever spend in your life.

Mods - ban him if he doesn't buy them.

As for coilovers, for the money I've heard that AP are very good.
Or you could go for N8 sponsored v-maxx.
Nothing less than those really.

Ahhh sending Nigel a PM as we speak for the lights :D

Hmm well i'm thinking coilovers won't be before the new year with everything else i want to do and saving up for holiday! but my birthday is coming up and i haven't treated myself in a while

I'm in a similar situation to you on the lowering front.
Was torn between coilover and springs/dampers.

Its looking like I'm going to opt for Eibach Sportline springs for a 40mm rear drop and a 50mm front drop. For now I'm going to keep my OEM shocks and see how the ride is. I've read and spoken to quite a few people who say that OEM sport/s-line shocks are ok for a good few miles with Sportline springs.

We'll see.

As far as i know mine came with the S-line suspension package or something similar, but i think the car just needs a few more cm's of lowering, nothing major, so i think i may also go down the spring/damper route, but we shall see

Yep, yours being an s-line it would've come with s-line springs which are 10mm lower than Sport springs, but apparently the dampers on both are the same.
Eibach Sportlines will give you an extra 15mm drop at the back and 25mm at the front.
H&R -50mm will give you an even 25mm drop at the front and rear.

If you want to go any lower than this then you will have to go for coilovers.

Lovely car mate, like the look of your plans too.. Dont wrap it though! a guy near me has wrapped his A3 pearl white and at fiorst it looked OK. Now its starting to look right tacky and tbh if it was me id rip the whole lot off.. You got a nice colour there. Keep it imho. Will still look sweet with black wheels, carbon mirrors etc.

When buying suspension it all comes down to budget. Also what you want out of it, i.e. lowering for looks, or to improve handling etc. I have experience of V-Maxx/AP/FK/Weitec/KW etc across VAG cars. I think between the lesser coilovers i.e. V-Maxx/AP/FK/Weitec, there isn't much difference in quality, but you notice the difference when going upto KW, they are stainless and just made from better materials. It just depends whether you want to spend £400-£600 or over £1000 really.

If you HAD to choose between these lesser coilovers which would you go for? Which would you say edges it in terms of quality/ride?

I'd probably say the weitecs were best out of those, BUT they are usually more expensive, the others all ride about the same, and V-Maxx would be the cheapest. But if it was purely for lows, then FKs, as the others go -65mm and FKs -100mm.

The plan with the car is to make it something for weekend and track use, as I work Monday to Friday, so when it comes to the suspension I want something that will not only make the car look better but actually improves its handling, I'm guessing coilovers would be better for this. I'd rather save up and pay more if its exactly what I want/need.

Lovely car Zach! I have to say that I really love the colour and can't wait to see it when you have your new rear lights fitted. Looking forward to seeing your plans for it unfold. x

Qq,

The fbmfsw, what multifunctions oes it do? Can it definitely be made to work and does the s3 wheel need o one with the airbag or can a non s3 airbag b used?
