Hey all, I can't sit still! my fingers are itching to start modding but funds are of short supply so was just wondering if there was any tasteful little mods that i could do on the cheap??

Any information/tips are greatly appreciated

Cheers Steve

Funds are always short so i'm going to do my chrome window surrounds(which i hate as they have gone patchy) in either carbon or matt black vinyl and the grill surround too. Not for eveyone but thats what i'm going to do maybe £20 tops for the vinyl.

Cheers Jay

Get yourself some genuine 3m di-noc carbon film from the likes of ebay and cover all the interior aluminium inlays!

Once they become scratched and nicked they look awefull.

I did mine in an afternoon, dead easy to do with a hairdryer and some patience.

They make a terrific upgrade and look so fresh too!

I did this last year. I got the idea after looking at the B7 s-line

I then did the card and cup holder to match

I Used VHT paint on the cam cover and then used a hot air gun (mid heat setting) to achieve the wrinkle effect. I then let the paint set/cool for 24 hours and then used a 2500 grit w&d paper just to knock it back a little.

With my spare Alloy Trim (fish scale) i had a little play with the gear lever surround. I removed the standard s-line surround and removed the crome trim from the fish scale surround and then test fitted it.

Results.

Standard s-line gear knob surround

FishScale Gear knob surround with chrome trim removed, the surround now slide's over the top of the gear knob a leather gater, so the gear knob now looks lower.

I was in two mind's and put it back to standard standard, not a cheap mod as the whole dash and door trim set cost me alot of money, but we have to try these thing's just to see..

Beetle RSI or something similar 6 speed gearknob. £30 & as above have 3m carboned the dash inserts. If you haven't got leather can do the fabric on the door card in faux suede.

its an ABT one, the black bit is carbon and its quite subtle in real life. it fits just as the oem one and is made of the same

Looks very nice.

I like your joey mod too, thats what I need to do, and stop convincing myself I can shortcut it with Lamin-x...
