Ebay item fitment

It should fit indeed, but I'm sure you'd be able to sell it on for more then that if there were any issues :) As far as I'm aware, it's a fairly standard fitment across the range.

Good man! I've just taken a chance and bought it...It does look like a 3 door rear bumper, and hopefully there aren't any issues with fitment so fingers crossed!

i would have had my 3dr A3 bumper for sale tomorrow, if you would have waited, you could have got it at the same price.

good luck with the fitting

Now I just need to buy the lower part that fits onto the bottom of this...anyone know a part number or name for the black plastic trim?

what one you after mate ive got a spare one in work for when i replaced it with my votex rear diffuser but its off a 1.6 model so a single exhaust , or are you after the s-line verson or something

Im after any one really, as long as its got the 'diffuser' type look, unfortunately I have twin exhausts so yours wouldnt be any good...cheers anyway :icon_thumright:

yeah the one ive got is just the standard one , like i said i took it off to fit my votex rear diffuser to my car , nothing stopping you from cutting out the hole a bit to make it fit the twin exhausts lol

That bumper you have bought is not an 2003-2005 as per the listing, it's a 2009 onwards bumper. Not a problem, as it will still fit your car.
BUT when looking for the diffuser for it make sure you only go for one which is 2009 onwards otherwise it won't fit your bumper.
And don't worry if the diffuser is from a 3 door, 5 door, or cabrio..... they will all fit.

I'm not sure what the part number is but its pretty obvious by looking at it if it'll fit.

You DON'T want one that looks like this - with an area that can be painted (the red bit, in this case):

You DO want one that looks like this:

or like this:

Thanks for the info and pics :icon_thumright:

I know its not a 2003-05, thats what I have currently and the reason I wanted the one on ebay!

It was a cheap rear bumper - £45

Yep, that price ain't bad. I paid £50 for mine, but it came with a diffuser.

To be honest, these 2009 onwards diffusers are not that easy to come by and to buy a standard one new from the dealers costs about £80. The s-line one is about £170.
Keep an eye out for any other 2009 bumpers (sportback's seem more common) and if they have a diffuser attached and the price is less than £60-£70 then its worth buying the whole thing, then keep the diffuser and sell on the bumper again.

Cool, cheers mate, just 1 question...how do i tell the difference between an '09 onwards rear and the others?

I know the difference between 3 door/5 door/convertible now lol, just not all the years.

The 09 onwards rears all (apart from the S3 rear) have a full bumper with a small'ish gap for the diffuser (same as the one you bought). The 03-05 rears look more like three quarters of a bumper, with a join about 3/4 of the way down where the diffuser clips on.

Go on autotrader and search for 03-08 and 09-11 A3s and look at the rear bumpers nearer the bottom and you'll see what I mean.

Here you go mate...

This is an 03-08 bumper (the arrow points to where the diffuser clips on):

And here is the 09 onwards bumper without a join:
