has anyone managed to fit 19" wheels to the new shape audi s3. mine is a 2008 model and have just put 235 35 19 on it and it catches ever soo slightly on the back 2 arches on the screws inside the pannels. theyalso look like they could touch on the front arches if i was to hit a big hole in the road or on heavy breakin. i am after lowering the car too but don't think it will be a good idea until i get these wheels right. the wheels really suit the car and would be a shame to get rid of the wheels.
 
think i might have to get rid cause everywhere i look people are having problems with this tyre size before lowering it, so if i d sort it i'll have it all agian when i lower it
o god what have i done
 
could do with clearing up the off set for the wheel too as i'm finding differnt et's everywhere here
 
not if the offset is right mate you need between et54 (standard wheel offset) and et45 what is the offset of your wheels bud
 
i think there et 45s now would that make it further out of the car?
 
yes it would do mate if you had say et35 they would be way to far out of the arches ive got et45 18" wheels with 225's on them i only get rubbing very rarely but ive lowered my a3 like 60mm from standard ive taken out the rear screws too to have a bit more clearance
 
I'm running et45 and 225's with H&R springs. The screw needs to be removed. It will rub slightly for about 1000 miles and then it settles fine. 215 is the only guarantee, but I have been happy with the way I did it. I just found out the tyres on the rs3 are different front to back, maybe Audi know something we don't!!!
 
i recon they could be et35s then sayin that got some pics for ya too but how you get them on here

are you sure i thought they needed to be the same as its 4 wheels drive so need to be the same rolling circumference otherwise it would screw around with the 4wd system

Remember the RS3 has bigger tyres at the front there were quite a few comments in the RS3 thread about it. Dont know why they did it mind
 
found out there et 42 which is too far out for my car hopefully get them swapped today but will have to go for 18" rims maybe the rs6 or rs4 wheel not sure yet hope he gets them right this time

you mean your not sure about puttin cheap quality alloys on the car.

why not do it what problems would i get from fake wheels, not sure they'll be on long but i mean they do have a cert with them so they cant be that bad in quality terms, getting the new rs4 wheels on tuesday cause the r8 v1 wheels or just too big. the rs4 wheels are 18" 225 35 off set 45 so they should be fine to lower the car on but if not i'll get my money back through citizens advice no worries.
 
225/35/19 tyres and remove rear arch screws if needs be

boom, rubbing issue sorted

Ive 225/35/19 tyres on 19x8.5 ET45 wheels and the car is 50mm lowered...no rubbing
 
Braders they are made from poor quality alloy, and are more likely to crack/buckle/bend in my experience of refurbishing alloy wheels.

i'm having a spec test done on these wheels so i will let you know but from the markings on the wheels they seem to be made from LM24 which is a standard aluminium alloy, they also have a quality stamp on the wheel too.
 
Dont want to **** on your fireworks but reps on a S3 ??
1/ If they are foreign dont take any notice of the markings ( unless you think you can really buy a Rolex in Turkey for £10)
2/ Listen to N8. what he dosnt know about wheels is not worth knowing.
3/ If you fit poor quality Reps then dont forget to tell your insurance company...lol
 
i run a diecasting company, working with alluminium everyday, i know exactally by reading the spec of the material from a spectrometer test what the alloy will be and with a 3D scanner which i can look at the grain structure and see if it has any foreign bodies and porosity inside and also see if it running true. if all is fine then wheel will be as good as an original :think:
 
Yea i thought that with a beautiful set of speedlines on a Ducati, turned out the magnesium content was to high and the cracked in half. Just be careful.
 
if it sit on any spec of alluminium ie an LM melt then it sound be mechanically sound
