So to cut a long story short im stuck with some facelift a3 headlights off a total w***er off here (thanks for the help sorting it jase), so im trying to make the best out off a bad situation.

Ive mangaed to fix a rear broken lug (that holds the rear cover in) and a broken automatic headlight adjuster (thank god for 2 part resin :)), anway i'me still left with 2 problems.

1. I have no back covers for the headlights, anyone got a spare set for sale or no if the stealers sell these seperate?
2. The headlights are covered in rust along the base of them (ill post pics in the morning along with a massive suspension update in my build thread :)), how do you seperate the lenses from the units? Is it a oven joby at low temperature then reglue them back together?

Discuss :).

The rear cover is listed as a 'cap':

8l0 941 159 B - left
8l0 941 159 C - right

Doubt they'll be cheap though, and seem A3 specific so finding one in a breakers might be slow going, worth a go though.

Sweet, thanks mate, so their the facelift caps not the prefacelift? Ill call the stealers tomorrow for a price.

Yeah the pics show them going onto the one piece type headlight not the two piece pre-facelift. I used a A3 2002 model in ETKA to get the part #'s

Just double checked, pre-facelift have no suffix and an A suffix. Facelift have B and C suffix's. So yes, they're are the right ones according to ETKA :)

Thanks mate. Going to phone the stealers now.

£40 for the ****** caps :sob:, may aswell just sell the f***ing things now, can but a brand new set off eby for £100.

Lesson learnt, dont send w***ers money via gift on paypal cos you got *** raped.

Oh that sucks - lesson learned though I feel, I think we've all been conned over the internet, I certainly have!

hello mate, i have a pair of the caps you are looking for, the only thing is each cap has a 1inch hole in them for where i had my HID's going into them. It would be pretty easy to seal them again with a bit of glue and a plastic patch. apart from tht they are in good nick with good seals

Cheers

They facelift ones pal? How much you want for them?

Did you get your lights fixed or are you going to end up with new ones? Just curious!

Well bought the backs off mike, hopefully should be getting them tomorrow.

As for the lights, i was off tuesday so thought sod it, lets strip them, cant make them any worse, and ive got to say im well impressed :), they look really good. Ill post some Pics later if you want, just need to shove the passenger side headlight in the oven to reseal it.

Yeah show us when you're done! What does the oven do, soften the sealant or something?
