Well I have a bit of time and thought that I would start to do a write up of whats been going on with my car.

She has been off the road for 2 weeks now. It all start after a drive up to my dads and the water alarm popped up. Ok thats fine put some water into it. Then driving home got stuck on the m25. Bam more water.... So more water. That night was out at the flixs again more water. So I braved opening the oil filler..... Guess what was there :(

So took it down to a friends workshop to get the head of as it looked like a head gasket gone. Head came off. Never seen that level of crap in a engine. Bearing in mind tho she had done 146k.

So as it was all in bits I took the head over to a local company who know the 20v head for them to get it rebuilt. For them to find that there was a crack between the exhaust valves :(

So with many thanks to bill for having a spare one which I hope you have posted today. So now just awaiting that to get built from the machine shop when they get it.

Now every cloud has a silver lining. I have got some forged rods. (again thanks bill) all new bearings new gaskets the works. New things make me happy. Also a new turbo as the k04 on there was dead. Was sucking less and less air. It has got a fair bit of play in the shaft but after 146k it can only be expected. Also thanks again to bill (3 times now) I have a lovely 3"tip to put back onto it. I will get some pics to chuck of of it all going back together. I love looking at engines getting built. Kills so much time at work :D

So when its all back I am very much not looking forward to running it all back in. But after I cant wait. New engine which I hope will last another 146k. Now its just the wait for it. What makes it worse that I have been using my mrs 306. You can see why I want mine back now lol!

Thought this was going to be a "my S3 is old and crap" thread but fair play to you for sticking with it. Despite its age and crapness... Lol

LOL, I love that car. Done the nurburg in it. Someone has to try and keep these running on the roads

I thought the same as Mush was expecting to read another S3's are useless thread (I hate those threads so much!) Good job on getting it sorted!

its on its way with Yodel now.. left this morning for you.
complete amk head.. I left the cams in, not that they're any good, nor valves, but it should strip down and clean up fine for you. Its cambelt went on my friends s3, and was running fine till that disaster.

Cheers bill :) My cams and vavles are all ok. Just the ****** crack that ****** it. Will be seeing you soon for a new map :)

I know mate there is nothing better than a fresh engine. These cars are so much fun. Just gotta spend the £££ on keeping them going. Well after this I hope it will keep on going. I think shes must of run out of stuff to brake.... *Touch wood* :)

good luck mate and fair play.

What 306 is it? some of them are capable of a good thrashing. My old 306 had better handling than my a3 without a doubt

hahahahah what 306 its a 1.4 with a great deal of worn bushes. Not a GTi 6. Would be better. AMS should have the head at some point today. So hoping they can get it all back together then I have the next 2 days off to get the head back on and turbo. All the bottom end its ready. Feels nice to turn. Cleaned out the sump and pickup.
So I am starting to want to jump around like a small child as xmas.........
Cheers for all the luck guys :)
There is a saying No one likes a quiter!

Just thought I would let you all know the lastest. They now have the head and striped it all down. But 2 of my exhaust vavles had cracks in! So they have got some spare to use :) So hoping I might just be able to pick it up by the end of the day.
Getting closer :D
