Hi everyone,

I'm basically just trying to see if anyone here could potentially be interested in an ASN "ring trip" this year. It’s something I really want to do! Not to go mad just to gain the whole experience. A few people from the 8L section are already booked and planned to go. I’ve never been so don’t know a great deal about plans but as mentioned this is just to gauge interest. If we get a few of us then we can talk about dates and finer details.

Id like to go around September time as it will let the summer madness calm down + people will be on holidays between now and then.

Come on peeps!! As I said it’s not to go and thrash your car or set fastest lap! Just fun, pictures and a general laugh more than anything.

The guys from 8L are going 02-05/09/2011 and we could potentially join up with them but they have booked accommodation already & I’ve also been told that there is a superbike event that weekend so it might be a bit busy!

I would be interested in this if you guys would have me there

i have no idea on any of this as i have been abroad once in the last 6 years... so how long would the trip be planned for and what sort of damage would I be looking at?

Me and my mate have just been talking about going there.

So depending on dates etc, there's 2 more interested.

I would be interested guys, any ideas on costs??

I will be out there with the old man a week later In his s3 going frankfurt motor show as well.

everybody is welcome!!!!:friends: its one of those things.. the more, the merrier! i've got a few mates who always talk of going but don't ever do it!!

here is a link to the 8L planned trip. have a read! its has prices and info there for everyone to see, saves me retyping it all :sadlike: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/events-outside-uk/103776-net-ring-trip-3.html#post1245057

I spoke to one of the guys on the 8L section and he said we are all welcome to join them but they have already booked and apparently is going to busy there that weekend. I'd rather go there when its quiet as its my first time and would rather have a more EMPTY track!:icon_thumright:

I'll be keeping my eye on this thread mate as it is something that does interest me a LOT!

I've been trying to get a Urquattro and if I manage to get one before this I'd be more likely to take it than my A3, but I'd still be up for going :D

If not I may go over in the A3 just for the trip anyway.

As with me, something I want to do before departing with the S3. I have taken it all over the UK and Ireland so The Ring would be the next thing I would love to do along with the Alps!

However, I think September for me is too short notice :( and being from Northern Ireland, we have to consider a lot more miles and 2 more boats :(

im happy to go later than sept! but i was thinkin we should try and get some good weather!! im all for lower temps as the car will run better.. Just no rain! as i'd like to put some nice tyres on and go for it a little!!!

Boyds, just dont worry about it and get your *** down for the trip! we could all have a right laugh!!!

heres some more threads to get info! from ASN members who have been!

Hi guys,

Be great to see a few of you there in September. Here's the thread from my trip last year:

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-forum-8l-chassis/101208-8ls-nurburgring-photos.html

I've been to the Ring for the last 10 years in various different cars but I'm still no expert. I like to take it easy and come home in one piece ;) I dont normally set very fast laps, normally around 9 minutes 30 seconds which is a steady pace.

The cost for the weekend Friday - Monday usually costs about £500 all in. the more passengers you have the cheaper it will be as you can split fuel and crossing fees.

If you are unable to find hotel rooms for the weekend of 2nd-5th September I think there is a camp site close to the Ring that would be a cheaper alternative.

Anyway, the link to the main trip thread is in mysignature and has been posted above so get involved :)

Apart from the fun on the track, the whole place is wicked. Nice restaurants and bars, and lovely motors on show everywhere. There's even a brothel for anyone who fancies it lol ;)

DONT!! :laugh::laugh:

generally sounds awesome!! really looking forward to the whole experience just hope we can get some numbers together!!

Only just got back!! I'll go again though if its a little later than sept.

ahhhh! top man!! any pics?

I dont really mind when i go! as long as i know im going!

Sorry missed this reply, tones of pics, that's what I do as a hobby, none of myself though obviously.. Gladly do trip photographer though.

I'm keen, I'll drive up from Nice, takes about 10 hours from here, don't go too late, drove past 2nd of Nov 2 years ago and the track was closed due to excessive was fog and rain.

A few months before the first time I went, I learnt the track on Forza 3. I know its not real life but it sure does give you a bit of guidance knowing whats coming up round the next bend!

Dont know about thrashing my 180 bhp SB TDI? can anyone give me a lift round?

Not about the power your running its about Maintaining the speed through crorners chap, youd still have fun in a TDi, my mates run clio's and still shame bigger cars through the corners, just the middle straight (LH'er) you lose out but man it's fun.

thats true! I went last year in an '01 seat ibiza cupra r 180 and a 327 bhp '07 S3. the S3 had difficulty keeping up with a little clio 182 and he left us! He was spitting flames out the back end though which leads me to believe throttle bodies or something like that

Ah could be, we don't touch the engines just strip the lot out and plaz up the windows.

Really is an amazing experience and no reason why you can't all come back with cars and your pride in one piece. The best advice I would give is don't time yourself and take it steady, the atmosphere is fan ****** tastic.

I went 2 years ago in September and arrived Saturday left Monday - all in about £650 but we went as couples so obviously better class of hotel and double expenditure.

I think its brilliant that you guys on here are considering it and you will not regret it, worth going even if you don't take your own car on - myself and 2 friends did the Ring taxi in an M5 - Andy prilaux was driving !!! - Have to admit I got out feeling very sick but a great experience.

I did 4 more laps which doesn't sound much but its more than enough to justify the weekend away - go for it lads.

Spin where have you been!? I was thinkin bout you yesterday. I'm currently trying to sort some brakes and thought of you haha! Have you still got the S?

Good to see some feedback from you! I really wanna do it and think it would really add to the experience having loads of us from here there!

Well we normally stay at Edgars in the village it's good rates and he's a real nice guy. Less than 5mins from the entrance and he will give lifts into town in th evening to the town or main track were there are food places and bars. May get to empty my ring card!

Is that this one:

Hotel An Der Nordschleife

If it is I've stayed there loads of times. Eddy is a great bloke and the new rooms on the side of the hotel are very nice.

The view of the track from the hotel balcony has been ruined now though by the great big metal fence they've put up on the bridge :(

No that right next to the Town entrance isn't it, Edgars is further up that road and take the next left, up the twisty road and on the left. nice view of the castle and out of the way.

Roughly "Mühlenhardtstraße 50
53518‎ Herschbroich
Germany"

Yeah it's the one that you can see as you come down the hill at Exmuhle in any computer game. Seems like you have to be called Edgar to run a hotel at the ring ;)

Not got the S3 anymore but do still have the AP set up availble for sale ? :o.k:

Not been on the VAG forums for a while as I needed to save money on modifications but have recently bought a mk6 Gti which at the moment is standard but no doubt not for long :)

I'll watch this thread with interest, you never know I may even be tempted to tag along...
