i've got a few niggles with a car i was given off uncle.....its a b6 avant

to start off the fuel cover won't lock...the silver bar doesn't lock the cover anymore...does anyone know of a potential fault?

also it was raining quite heavy last night and when i've pulled my seatbelt (drivers) out it is damp.....anyone know of a location of this leak?

also the engine management light is on...my uncle said its been on for about a year and a half now so i'm guessing that this could just be a sensor that has failed....i know it could be a number of thing but i would struggle to afford anything for than £80 to repair it as i'm pretty skint

fuel cover im thinking your on about the main flap if so probly just the motor has died have a look on ebay for a cheap one

seatbelt some times iv felt this on mine but i think its just cold giving the feel of it being damp im not sure rain could get in there to be fair also you would have a wet floor

engine light has been on for a year **** get it scaned that the only way to no why its lol
 
My fuel flap wouldn't lock - the actuator that locks it had snapped - cheap enough part - around £15 I think. Bit of a pain in the Harris to do though as it doesn't use sensible screws or nuts and bolts - but achievable enough with a small enough socket or a pair of pliers.

As for the Engine Management light, you need to get someone with VCDS to scan it for you - whereabouts are you based? There will probably be someone local who would scan it for a few beer tokens or maybe for free.
 
I live in teesside in the north east of england....i know someone who probably could scan it for me.......he's doing my cambelt for £190 inc parts so i doubt he will charge me much for a scan


as for the seat belt it was definitely wet but i think i've found the cause....cheers for the info, i'll get looking for a motor for the fuel flap
 
also does anyone know where i can get a cover for the front towing eye on the bumper.....mine is missing
 
Main Dealer would have the actuator - that's where I got mine.

Ask the Dealer for the Towing Eye Cover too - bet they carry them.
