Diesel or petrol? Sportback or 3 Door? Manual or Auto? Any optional extras? Happy to help but need more info.

Tell them you want it replaced like for like. If not then you want the money to cover the cost of sourcing one like for like.

Simples. :)

I think insurance companies use glasses guide or something similar. They will offer the lowest possible market value for the car so much the same as a trade in I wouldn't accept the first offer. Tell them what you would need to spend to get a like for like replacement (they won't source one) and they will probably come very close to the figure.

Don't be shy in telling them what you want if it's reasonable, the claims people do this all day every day and won't be offended, shocked or uncomfortable talking money so neither should you be.

I've only had one experience with a total loss and this is what I did. I even made money out of it :)

from 6 cars that I have found the average is 22k - Ive told them thats how much I want.

Their are not many BE around at the moment :sadlike:

only think this works when you have PCP cover

Yes but the point I was making was that I wouldn't be accepting anything less than what I had before regardless if that was cash to buy one the same or a replacement.

Remember that you can always negotiate some money off the windscreen price if you are paying cash - the insurance companies know this too, so I wouldn't expect that you would get the £22k, more likely £21k, but should still be enough so you're not out of pocket.

Good luck !
