Solar Orange Audi S3 - out with the old, in with the new

Awesome car, awesome colour. Don't think I'd be brave enough to go for that colour - but I like it

Haha dont blame her :)

Why not Suzuka? Thats a stunning colour.

haha well as she stumped up a chunk of cash she did have a say, but now its mine i can do what i want lol

funny you should say Suzuka as thats the colour that i was thinking of, when you catch it in the light it looks amazing! just got to get all the performance work done, then onto wheels, paint and carbon fibre!

Love solar S3's, really is a tidy colour. Also have a soft spot for 8L's great design, a real pity they didn't flare the rear arches on the 8P but alas lol... Very nice choices of cars n colours, facelift tail lights on the new one ftw :)

I thought about that but I dont want people to think I've had a bump or something and upgraded the lights at the same time

Maybe I'm just being paranoid!

Go for it! the old style rear lights aren't 'ream' enough lol

Gotta say I agree dude.. The arches on me 8l are something I miss massively, it makes the front end look wide and mean coming towards you, the bugatti style front grill on the 8p is loads nicer tho, so tradeoff I guess?

Love the colour. Touch of class.

I have to agree as well, I always loved the look of my 8P head on, and the shorter front plate made it look wider as well. That car sold today, I'll be sorry to see it go but the new one will keep me happy for a while :)

Love the orange S3's one of my buddys knows someone who drives one and I've seen it about a few times and in person they just look gorgeous!
As long as you look after it!!! Haha

As for would i buy one? Hell yeah if I had the choice!!
But I'd have a Java Green S3 any day of the week :D

Also love solar orange, was very tempted myself just wasn't sure I could live with it :) look amazing with black optics/black alloys, lovely car!

There's so many scaredy cats on this thread LOL!

Haha so true! Although I'm feeling a little intimidated, I've been getting a LOT of stares from creepy weirdos in vans etc, I don't think some guys get out enough lol.

Very nice Lauryn. I've followed your 8L thread on SVAG for a while now and I know how much you love the 8L, so must've been hard to make the decision. Indeed, Solar is one of those colours you either love or hate, but good on you for taking it on.

They do look good in the flesh, always catches your eye Solar. Look forward to your write up on the little tweaks.

MattAndrew has his BBS CH Blacks up for sale. Maybe a little predictable, but it works so, so well. That or Luke's S6's in gunmetal, ooohhhh, tidy.

I wasnt 100% at the beginning if I'm honest but now I'm really happy with it, looking out the window like a creep checking its still there sometimes and other times just admiring it, sad

I did love my 8L so I think I made the right decision, I bought that for myself in August 09 and now that I've left uni and gone back into full time employment I think the time was right to upgrade :) I would have liked Sprint Blue like yours but a friend has one and I didnt really want to have owned a blue 8L and a blue 8P, its nice to have a change.

I'm not really convinced about anything other than silver wheels on it, maybe I'm being timid (funny since I own a bright orange car lol) but I think black on orange or anthractive orange might just be a little too much...

Someone locally and also on Svag has bought the 8L btw so you will still see it, I'm sure he will keep it mint :)

Cheers fella. Got it the way I want it finally only to be looking to change it! Like Lauryn, a positive change in circumstances and therefore why not treat ourselves. I just hope there's enough room in the back for the baby seat.:sly:

Oh dear haha, I hope it's a Recaro one lol.

congrats on an awesome ride lauryn!

Thank you! There was an Imola Yellow S3 in Leeds with the buckets etc I was going to go look at but I settled for the orange in the end. I like my bright colours lol. Would you recommend the springs you fitted to yours? I had coilovers on my old Lupo and settled for Eibach springs on my 8L S3, just wondering if the H&R springs are decent on the 8P?

Thanks

H&R's seem to be the spring of choice for the S3. I had a set put in 5 minutes after pick up, but although they drop the car to the right height and make the ride flatter, my set were horrible. They made so much banging and crashing noise over any bump, I had to have them out. I spoke to the dealer ( and 3 independent garages) who in turn spoke to H&R, but no answers. I think I had a set which weren't for the S3, but that's only my opinion.

My story there, but hundred's of others have no issues at all and swear by H&R's.

I now have VW Racing springs in mine and they are fantastic. A better ride, drop is 20-23mm, so very usable. OK, they're a bit more expensive, but other than H&R (or coilovers) I'm not sure what I would have gone with. I did have Eibach Pro front only's too, but as soon as they were in I wanted to drop the rear. They're a lovely blue which matches my Sprint also which is nice.

yeah, i know what you mean about the bright colours..

i feel the H&R springs give a really really hard ride!
my car isn't a daily driver so i don't mind at all..
i didn't do the shocks yet, thinking of going for the koni sport shocks.
coilovers doesn't work for me as my driveway has an incline so getting in an out with
just the H&Rs is already a mission :sadlike:

i reckon if coilies is in your budget, go for it!!!

Black or Anthracite would look sweet and different alloys. Some inspiration

I can afford them no problem but I like the simplicity and minimal drop on springs, hmm :uhm:

I'm just not convinced wth anything other than silver :(

Good lad lol

Sorry i'll try to behave
:(

Ash what have I said about you putting porn up haha

:lmfao::lmfao:

I have H&Rs with stock dampers and the ride very quickly becomes pretty poor, ( even compared to sh!tty stock). Drop looks good but uprated dampers are a must, with H&Rs springs only damping control is poor.

very very much agreed! on motorway/autobhan anything over 100 starts to get a little worrying and on b-roads 50-60 can get a little uneasy to say the least! if you want to stick with a 25mm drop and dont want to fiddle with heights and settings then get some Bilstein B8 dampers as they are a fantastic match to the H&Rs and all in should come to about £800 before fitting so very good value for money

What are those silver alloys Ash posted, LMs? They look fantastic with the orange paint. Never been a fan of black alloys (unless they have a silver lip, or are on a black car), they make most paint look flat, but maybe that's just in pictures.
