I have been to look at an Audi A4 2.0 T FSI Quattro S Line over the weekend, and going back again today for my second look.

Never had an Audi before and have read in some places about problems with gearboxes between 2 and 3rd, was just wondering whether this would be an issue with the semi automatic gearbox on this car.

Also, when looking at the steering wheel, there didnt seem to be any controls on it, having looked at other cars the same age, a lot of them seem to. is it possible it has been changed or does it just depend on the age

is there anything i should be looking out for with regards the car. thanks in advance.

Simon

Hello m8

Been and audi owner for nearly a year now and read these forum all the time apart from the odd few problems with gear boxes that are bound to happen on any motor a problem with gear between 2nd and 3rd is by no means a common fault on the majority of audis. Not that there really is many major common faults in audis anyway :) im sure most of the fellas on here will agree.

Depending on the age and the spec of the motor you have been looking at buttons on the steering wheel will or wont be fitted. This would be the least of my worries, however if this is what you go for then i would suggest asking nigel/NHN is his username. U will find posts from him on most threads just send him a private message, you will obviously have to buy the spec of steering wheel you require, but im not sure wheter the steering wheel will be able to be retrofit.

Just look out for the usual things you would look for when buying a motor. Main thing is dont rush into buying the first thing you see.

Hope this helps

Hi Scott, thanks for the advice, not really fussed about the controls on the steering wheel, just some seemed to have and some hadnt from a similar age, so just wiouldnt whether it should be something i should be wary of.

only re4al concern i have is the mileage of the car im looking at, as it is up by 120k, which is why im guessing te price is reasonably low. high mileage on a diesel isnt such a problem byut on a petrol car i am slightly more concerned, car is mint though apart from high mileage.

glad the gearbox isnt such an isue, and as it the semi autonmatic, hadnt read anything about it but just wanted to check.

this will be my first audi, as coming over from owning a 55 Plate Focus ST, so still have the thirst for speed but not such a hirst for the petrol. so these seem a bit better.

Yea personally i would stay clear of petrols with that high mileage but if its in good nick its your call
