Audi Recall ( all petrol engines)

mine is a standard s3 and all original but its a 2000 reg and 11 years old is it to old? get something for nothing from the stealers seems to good to be true, they dont find all types of faults and rip you off? at maidstone Audi I could tell you some things they have done to me, It always cost me money in there.

Hello,

I live in Turkey.
Anyone knows APY engine has recall?
I went my dealer today. He looked chasis number and he said "there is no recall for your car"

Got my coilpacks booked in Glasgow Audi Breahead. Wednesday Morning 20th April....

Also booked into Glasgow Audi for new coilpacks, wash and free "health check". Thursday 21st April. 2002 BAM S3

A3 Oly - I had my 2003 BAM S3 done at Nottingham Audi a few weeks ago with no problem whatsoever. Replaced all 4 coil packs FOC. Just tell them the recall number and your chassis number and it'll be sorted. I declined the £14.95 wash though...

Jonesy - no they don't flash the ECU. I checked beforehand to ensure that all that would be done was to replace the coils. No diagnostics carried out either. So it's fine.

I had the same concerns but to be fair Cambridge Audi were brilliant. I did make it clear from the start that I wouldn't be paying them any money under any circumstances. I'm sure the quality and attitude of different dealers across the country does vary though, so it's a bit of a gamble. If you can't trust your local dealer, is it worth a drive to a different one?

Has anyone managed to get their aftermarket coil packs replaced?

Checked my '05 A4 in for a dodgy wheel bearing and they replaced all 4 coils as part of the Audi campaign. Usual costs for the wheel bearing and a new tyre (thanks to the Oxfordshire council for the extra deep potholes this year). Free job on the coils - parts & labour.

Mine were aftermarket and not genuine VAG. They were still replaced under the recall (field investigation).

Hope that hepls.

just thought id mention, took mine to Audi Bexley yesterday and they wouldn't touch my coils as they were not originals. I know I changed 1 and 2 a couple of years ago but that was with Audi parts. Got a feeling they didn't bother checking 3 and 4. Oh well, didn't get a health check or offer of a free car wash. Thanks Audi for wasting my morning!!!

BTW how can you tell what version the coils are?

Thanks

Mines booked in for new coil packs on Monday at Coventry Audi... Cheers for the heads up O.P :)

2002 BAM booked in 18th at Oxford Audi. Wouldnt of known without this bit of info...cheers :)

Had mine done at watford audi, no questions...just did them. Strange...im starting to get increased mpg, i was getting 26.3-26.2 constant, im now getting 26.8 and going higher, also the engine seems to be a bit happier and smoother

Took the car to audi today and they said that my coil packs are brand new (well they almost are.....lol) and because they checked them and as they aren't faulty they don't need changing.

So even know they are aftermarket ones, if they tested them and they were faulty they would have replaced them.

Hope this helps :)

Mines been in for a Haldex oil and filter change today, they did the recall free of charge and no questions asked.
Tyneside Audi Newcastle

No number mate, just call them and tell them your reg and they will tell you if it's on the list or not :)

Just had all 4 of mine replaced, seems smoother now :)

Just got mine back from Crewe Audi. Didn't tell me if any of coils were replaced...but i now have some small scratched on each corner of my front bumper that werent there yesterday when machine polished my front end!!!! :wtf:

Going to phone up and play hell shortly, they best sort it.

g10chy, didnt they give you a work sheet or anything like that, they should do this on all cars coming in for work.

This will indicate if anything was done.

Nope didn't recieve anything. That is why i asked them specifically if anything had been done to which i got a reply "No further outstanding workshop requests". Didn't even get a list of ridiculous expensive recomendations either, which isn't normal for Audi!!

Waiting for a call back with regards to my bumper as well so i will ask if any coils were replaced again.

Thats odd, i got a sheet to say one coil had been changed and i had to sign for it etc...

They did a health check too, so got that on a seperate piece of paper.

Let us know how it goes

I didn't get a sheet either, only for the tracking I had done, but not for the coils..

When i took mine the process was......

1. sat me down and asked me all my details and asked me to sign a piece of paper .

2. took me to my car and looked it over for scratches...etc (a bit like when you hire a van...lol), and asked me to sign a check sheet.

3. the guy told me that i can sit down it their lounge and help myself to coffee...etc while i wait for the car to be done.

4. he called me to his desk and told me that they are all ready new and gave me this sheet:

I went was told the exact same thing no work required as originals are fine. Also the only thing they seemed to have done in the free health check is check the tyres for legal thread. Am i just being palmed off because my car is 2002, should i ring them back and insist they change the coil packs to bolt downs (they are the push down type atm)?

Today i brought my S3 to Audi Breahead in Glasgow at 9am. Service was nice.... really polite. First i was asked to show my car for a Visual checks... Checking the car for marks, scratches, dents before its serviced. Basically to say it was not them that done it. Was asked if i would like my car washed inside and out for free... i said yeah even though my cars clean. :) I was also told my car would have a free health check. I was then greeted indoors again for a free coffee & biscuit. Was then called later at 5pm to say my cars ready to be collected which i will do tomorrow. Two coilpacks were replaced. Will see how it is tomorrow :)

Recently booked mine in with my local dealer. Just rang and enquired about the recall, they asked for my reg and said it was eligable and booked it in for me. They're even going to give me a courtesy car aswell. Can't complain.

Braehead Audi told me mine were ok and did not need changed, a bit annoyed that I wasted my time taking the car in!

Calling Peterborough Audi tomorrow to see if I need mine doing!

2001 AMK S3 - Paid a quick visit to the new stealers at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol last week - checked on the system and booked in for next week and they are also going to look at the roof rail - courtesy car as well!

Had to wait about a minute to see someone and even offered a coffee!

Just thought i would update this with my review....

I took mine to my nearest dealer which is West London Audi, yes the huge beautiful amazing dealership! I had it booked in last week Friday so i went along. I was greeted as soon as i walked in, don't know how she knew my name, must have seen me pull up in the car park and checked my reg up to see who it was lol. They sat down and talked me through what they were going to do, they even gave the S3 a free of charge car wash courtesy of Audi............ result!

After waiting for an hour and a half drinking nice coffee's and staring at brand new Audi's all around me (especially the white TTRS converty!) the car was done. My coilpacks were fine but they changed them anyway. Even though my old coilpacks were fine, these new ones have definitely made a difference, for some reason the car has such a nicer pull than before!

West London Audi definitely reccommended! :)

Peterborough Audi never got back to me so I called Huntingdon Audi yesterday. Car is booked in for Monday 23rd to get looked at. :)
