Coming home / leaving Lights

Hi,

I just looked at Dan's A3, he's done the wiring for the come home / leaving lights etc and enabled it in VCDS, but the lights just won't come on?

I tried finding the thread about it because someone I think suggested connecting to the light switch but for the life of me couldn't find it.

Anyone any ideas?
 
has he set it up right in vag-com and has he put the pin into the right hole in the plug as i nearly put it in the wrong hole when i did my footwell lights easy done otherwise could it be a bad earth it needs to be a good one otherwise it wont work properly , cant think of anything else to suggest soz dude
 
Would it accept the coding if the earth wasn't good, or does it just accept it but not work?
 
i had my footwell lighting programed before i had even touched the wiring in anyway so im asuming yeah you can turn it on if vag-com is all good then check the earth failing that i am clueless soz
 
I did have a look and it looks good to me, can't see anything wrong in what he's done, the only thing I can of doing is disabling it and taking the earth to the battery, he has it to one of the bolts for the dash to the car which looked fine.

I'll get him to call round and i'll check resistance from the pin to earth, should give me an idea if it's just the earth wire then... Didn't check this as I thought it might be that on 07 plate that might have to do something different!
 
i am right in thinking that once it's enabled in the ecu it just works, there is no activation by fob, door or light switch to get it to take it in....
 
yeah once its been enabled it should just work , not that i know of mate , soz i cant help any more i only know a limited amount of stuff

Don't think that's a very fair comment Si.

I'm sure it's not a question of nobody 'willing' to help, just that other people have got the thing to work and don't know why yours doesn't !

If I had done the mod and at first it didn't work and then I had managed to get it to work I would be delighted to assist.

However, I haven't tried the mod so can't help - sorry !
 
This isn't for me, this is for a guy off here, he's new on here and he asked me to have a look because am on the VCDS map, so I said not a problem, I checked his work against the guide that's on here and it seems fine!!

Am gonna get him to come round and i'll do a proper check of the wire, make sure it is earthed, I was thinking that maybe on a 07 they changed something.

Am for the auto lights sensor, not sure i'll ask him, what's the difference with that? I do believe it's basic spec so not included...
 
I may be wrong, but as mine has return home lights, and auto lights, wipers etc. I'd of thought the return home lights function would only operate, or meant to operate when they are needed, eg in the dark
 
Thanks mike, that's the guide I checked his work against, and what he used to do the mod.

Doesn't matter who it's for - you seemed to suggest that nobody was willing to help you.

If the car has auto lights sensor then you don't need to do the wiring mod. and as long as the switch is in the 'auto' mode then if the lights have been enabled in VCDS they will work when it's dark enough !

They will not work in daylight.

You are not wrong Mark ! Providing the switch is in the 'auto' position.

That's correct - and the basis of this thread - because after doing the wiring mod. the ch/lh lights don't work, even after correct coding.

The OP is asking for any help to get them to work.
 
i havent matey apart from the earth and it being coded properly then im clueless ive got no idea at all what it could be other than the central elec not accepting it somehow
