I know the early engines in the S3s suffered with certain components failing/not being up to the job.

AFAIK they are:

- Coil packs
- MAF sensors
- Recirculation valves
- N75 valves

Are there any others? And does anyone know the latest part numbers and suffixes? And where is the best place (read: cheapest) to get them?

Cheers

Everything like that, i'd go to www.vagparts.com

Did you get the fuel pump sorted?

Cheers Rich.

I bought it - Haven't had chance to see if it'll fit the MkIII Golf VR6 tank yet. What with working 6 days and week and having to remove and reinstall my brothers Clio 16v engine [que the violins LOL!!!]

Rich - Noticed in another post you took your car to somewhere in Daventry for the cambelt. You local to the area? I'm in Northampton and used to work at Ford in Dav.

Not local but not all that far away. I'm in Witney, but took the car to RSD in Daventry to get the belt done. My best mate lives in Wootton in Northampton.

One outlet too many? I've got me a lift pump and there's only two on that.

I take it you are actually talking about the pump, rather than the in tank lift pump, yeah?

How are you finding your IHI turbo? Reason I'm asking is I have and other engine to play with and I wanna crack the 400bhp barrier. Was looking at a G28RS but I think that'll only get me to 325-350. On the other hand I don't want massive lag either. Just want want want, isn't it?

Oh, and what spark plugs do you use in your motor? NGK - PFR6Q?

its great! Lots of power to play with and not TOO laggy. Its fully kicked in by 3500rpm on average.

The one to go for would be the VF-22. This is good for 400bhp. Whilst the engine is out of the car, make it a 1.9-2.0L and that will recover some of the lag for you.

The VF-22 will fit on the IHI VF-34 manifold but obviously you will need a custom downpipe .etc but that will be the case whatever really wont it. 400bhp in a mk2 would be mental!

No idea... Just standard stuff at the moment. Will be changing them shortly!

[ QUOTE ]

The engine is currently in bits anyway. Got an APX lump from a TT and an AEB "large port" head from a A4. Take it it's pistons that increase the CCs?

[/ QUOTE ]

Not entirely sure what all is needed...just finding out though.

[ QUOTE ]

Manifiolds not gonna be a problem. Intend on making my own anyway. And down pipe....been there, done that. You're right it would be mental - Especially in the back of a MkII. Shhhhhhhh. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

[/ QUOTE ]

The Jabba manifold is very good... you'd be hard pushed to better it!

Engine in the back eh? That'll be fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tubular - with the turbo mounted over the gearbox. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

gearbox, or transfer box? Sounds intersting!

Make sure you als uprate all the head components too... I know of a certain 400bhp golf that went bang from a head that wasnt up to the job!

Ahhh, right. I'll bear that in mind.

Yeah, has a few funky functions on the Apexi thing. The boost limit thing would be handy. I'll be running it on Emerald management which has traction, so that will help too.
