Simple question i want to stick with a audi turbo :)

What to get audi tt 225 quattro or audi s3 ?

Why do i go for the tt?

Why do i go to the s3

thanks alot guys and i have had this from all my mates already hairdresser

Is there any real reasons ?
 
TT 225 was great when i went in one, low down, sporty etc
Issue i had, is common, the old hairdresser comment etc
S3 is much rarer, more manly looking and subtle IMO.
Both are pretty much the same car underneath so either one you get would be great just depends if you can deal with being called a hairdresser or not :p lol
 
For image and rarity, S3 all the way! I like the TT, bu I'd want a 3.2 one they look better and are rarer.
S3's are cheaper too, why pay more to look like a gay accountant
 
S3's are cheaper than TT's? really? havent looked but presumed they wouldnt be! lol
The special TT 240bhp if you have 12k, i'd have that in a heatbeat! thats the only exception to me for S3 vs TT!
 
Been looking at s3,s but there about the same price but have about 100,000 + on the clock i would not care about the hair dresser bit,if you make it look nice im sure people are not gonna be saying things liike that and down my way a hairdresser would not have the money to buy one lol

Thanks guys but im sure the tt's will feel better and could make quicker as they are smaller,also is there any common problems with them like the s3's or a3 faulty dash lines in them ?

And is there any thing to look for,i.e any things that are wrong that are hidden i have a ross-tech lead so im sure i can log it to see any faults ?
 
I had a TT (3.2 DSG) and endured the hairdresser bit. Mainly from people driving a focus or a 306. I never wished for the S3 or quattrosport (the 240 bhp TT) - I loved the V6 sound. Between those two though, I'd go S3 as the TT 225 is just a bit too common - at least it was in Aberdeen.
 
100k is nothing on a well looked after TT or S3 there are many on the forum heavily tuned with far more mileage!
TT's and S3 are very similar, and pretty much tune the same so its really whether the only difference is the shell id say...
More space in the S3, more seats, slightly higher up and less common...
Either way good cars!
Make sure cam belt and water pump done 60 k or every 5 years, rust on roof rails for S3 is common, check for bubbles not sure if this is same for the TT but its more than likely!
I guess other than that just general checks, read FAQ's on here and stuff, sure other people be on here soon giving suggestions
 
I agree with the guys here, Every woman and her ridiculously small dog has a TT :)

They are the same underneath so go for the extras on top… S3 has more room and will me less of a drama getting in and out of in small car park spaces :) Plus they seem far more prestigious !

posting this thread on a a3/s3 forum, you're bound to get some heavy biias towards s3s... (rightly so :-D)! would help if you could mention your budget: it's probably the biggest determiner here. a low-mileage tt 225 is going to set you back a pretty penny... maybe edging towards s3 8p money. in my humble opinion if it's tt 225 vs s3 8p there is simply no contest. actually thinking about it, tt 225 vs s3 bam-engined 225 there is no contest. if you're going for looks alone and just want to be a bit flash, tt it is ;-)

And what is a 240bhp quattrosport? 1.8?

Yep, it was the last of the Mk1 TTs. Had a 1.8T tuned to 240bhp from the factory, black roof, OZ multispoke wheels, no back seats, had a different front bumper/spoiler? All in all it was lighter than a standard TT so ended up the fastest of the lot.
However if you plan to tune it you'll still end up with 260bhp from a rechip.
 
S3 I think it is what's about the right price for uplift shape about 100,000 miles ?
 
all depends on

location
service history (cambelt, haldex, general maintenance)
condition of car 100k + S3 can command above 6k is it is in good condition
optimism of seller :)
 
I bought a 2001 facelift 95K miles, leather recaro, bose'd full Audi SH AMK engine'd 210 that had just had cambelt and water pump changed but needing a few bits (roll bar bushes, timing chain tensioner, front discs and pads and a service) for £4050 just before Christmas, so bargains can be had - i got it from pistonheads rather than autotrader...
 
I'd go with an S3 too, they are rarer, look equally as nice and you've always got the option of carrying extra passengers or droping the back seats for a trip to the dump...
 
Does the 240 bhp TT look different to the normal TT?

Black roof and pillars. Multispoke alloys. bucketesque seats, different steering wheel and no back seats. Sure there are some more features. To me its the only TT to go for. The normal TT back seats are worse than a joke. Pointless.
