No.

Its a closed loop system (apparently) so there is no air to expel.

There is no air to DUMP but just to DIVERT so S3 has a diverter valve.

I recommend doing a search for the term DV as there is loads of info as well as flutter problems.

Gulp - An engine with no air? Crickey, well you live and learn eh?

Actually there is lots of air to dump (especially on high boost cars) it's just that it makes a very silly noise, draws attention to ones (faux chrome) wheels and (m3 styleeee) mirrors as you crab down the high street will the door sills scraping the tarmac.

In all serious there is no conclusive proof that it works without losing power and bringing up occasional error codes, and the engine is not designed to run an atmospheric valve.

Maybe save the money and buy some blue neon washer jets?

Sometimes it's best just to get straight to the point, and not ponce about...
although, I fear the reply may be perceived as being curt, caustic or even slightly insensitive...which is a shame.

Maybe you are right, but I always worry about offending /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif LOL

Dont shoot me 4 asking this ...cos I know its been covered b4... how do you service a Viper DV.
the search function doesnt allow the word "DV" which makes it a near impossible thread to find.

TIA

Ahhhhh try to help people out and this is what you get.....

Markb, some people havent the time and patience to search an entire forum to find this out. Giving help is just as easy as 'This question has been asked many times.'

If you've been helped out before for things you didn't know then you should be a bit more helpful yourself

Dismantle it by unscreing the allen key bolts. Remove the piston, spring and rubber washers, clean all the old grease and dirt out then rebuild using a kit you can get from the supplier (new o-rings and grease)

It's really simple /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

cheerz lads
much appreciated gonna give it a miss now !

i have a atmospheric dump valve, on my A3 1.8T '98, my car has no noticeable lack of power and i dont have to wait for the turbo presure to respool.

no fault codes, no fuel consumption increase no problem,

however i do have a satisfiing ptschhhhhhhh

it is no slower than any other astandard a3 turbo. dont be negative try it for yourself, mine is a bailey dv 26 and fits in the cold side of the intercooler pipe, anything that goes in place of the recirc valve will cause you problems if it is of the atmospheric style.

read the thread

hold the front page on dump valves!!!!

Well it may well be that if you'd had a new standard DV then you would of noticed a difference. It will increase lag between gear changes, and in performance terms it does matter, so a statement like it doesn't make any difference is not true....just think about the principles behind the system
