Hi,

I'm looking at getting a new (to us) car for my SO, and she wants something safe, comfortable, nippy and economic. The only car that seems to make the grade is the Golf GT-PDI. Preferably the 150bhp version. Unfortunately they are all pretty expensive, so I'm looking at the possibility of buying a 110 or 130 derivative and getting it chipped.

Does anyone know if there are other mechanical differences between the cars, or is it just the software?

Cheers,
Dan

Hi buddy, welcome to the forum!

AFAIK these are the following differences between the 130, and 150.

Mechanically the 150 has
Uprated crank, and pistons.
Increased compression ratio.
Large Front Mounted Intercooler (130 has a small side mounted jobbie).

Good luck! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure we'll end up getting the Golf - for a little of 10k you can get a good A3 1.8T Sport. That would be economic enough and have plenty of go too.

Cheers,
Dan
