Looking at selling the S3 and was wondering what do you think it is worth ?

Car in pristine condition , 08 plate , 1 owner,16k miles with £7k options as below

Band for Windscreen 55
Tinted Privacy Glass 325
Reversible Boot Mat 50
Accoustic Parking System 260
Cruise Control 240
DVD Sat Nav 2175
BOSE Sound System 440
IPOD Adaptor 175
Auto Folding Door Mirrors + Heated Washer Jets 120
3 Spoke Flat Bottom Sports Steering Wheel 270
Front Centre Arm Rest 95
Black Styling Pack 300
Interior Light Pack 140
Tyre Pressure Warning 45
Front and Rear Heated seats 190
Front Bucket Seats in Fine Nappa Leather 1685
Adaptive Lights 325
Luggage Pack (Net + 12v Socket) 60
Non Smokers Pack

Car stored in heated garage , polished with Jeffs etc full Audi service history , still under warranty.

Looking on pistonheads seen one same year without buckets + black styling pack and more miles for £24995 so was thinking should be worth £25500, does this sound about right ?

Anyone interested ?

Thanks

Sorry I reckon you will be hard pushed to get £20k trade in the current market.

Look at the list of an S3 BE knock off 9-10% discount. Includes many of what were options Nav, wheel AMI, armrest, styling pack, dark glass etc... then knock off 7-8k depreciation for a 2.5yr old car. May get a bit more if you are lucky but I don't think £25k!

Take a look at this 2010 from an Audi Dealer (which will include at least 2k mark up)
2010 Audi S3 1984 cc 2.0 T FSI quattro 265 PS

Sorry mate!

Rule of thumb is 1/2 the purchase price at 3 year old point , yes its not 3 years yet but 25k is way off, there are many S3 o8 plates with under 20k on them for 19k.
Granted no buckets , but surprising some normal bod would prefer them with out buckets. If it was me i would sell the buckets (or part-ex) for a normal interior.
You will get 2k for them and then think about selling for 19k+2 = 21k and thats ****** good , check auto trader out.
Yours has a good spec , but to be honest its the least i would accept on a S3.Unfortunally options do not add value (same as mods ) on resale , they just make it quicker to sell

08 with 15k parkers price

Franchised Dealer £20,120
Independent Dealer £19,735
Private Good £18,970
Private Poor £15,990
Part Exchange £17,625

No problem , that one has not got anywhere near number of options , Buckets etc etc

Thanks for comments, was offered more than 20k trade in without trying last week.

No chance they will get that, not today.

Last year i bought a brand new 59 plate S3 sportback... canceled order or so they said ,and i got 11% off from a main dealer, came with close to your spec bar the buckets. That was brand spanking new.

Part ex is a different game as it depends on the deal , they simply move the figures around so it looks good to you.
Dealers will always show you a better offer on the part ex , what they actually do is find their lowest discount of the new car and move that figure onto the part ex as they want / NEED the business.

If they offered you a really poor part ex they know that they would not get close to a deal.

Trade on yours is £17,625. fact , so to offer more is them moving the figures around.

Ask them what they would give you non part - ex (cash) , make sure you sit down !

I bought my 08 S3 in Phantom Black with 17,000 miles on it last November from a main dealers and paid £21,500 for it. It doesn't have the buckets or the folding mirrors though. A week earlier the same car had been up for £24.995, the dealer said they have 4 weeks to sell a car then they start getting penalties from Audi Uk so they always reduce them in the final week.

unfortunately you can forget the exra's, they will look at the 08 plate and the fact its not the current model. Most of what you add as extra's on an Audi is std kit in othjer makes so second hand its built in the value of the car. A dealer would be lucky to get 25k absolute tops so you would be looking at about 22.5k IMHO. You would do better private. My local dealer has a 10 plate DSG up for 25k with 7k miles.

I agree with all the above. The beat piece of advice up there is to buy another interior and sell the buckets separately. Seriously, they won't add much value to your car but are very sought after otherwise

If you are keen to sell consider the 20k+ offer (bet it wasn't a lot more than £20k though... or loiter around your Audi Dealer and try to sell privately!!!

The buckets p/x is a good idea.

I wouldnt pay more for a car with buckets, and I know how desribale they are unlike Joe Shmoe.
In fact If I bought a used car (3 door) with them in, I would probably sell them too.

For a guide, I paid 25k for mine 2.5 years ago when prices were buoyant. (from Fontain)

The car was was 4 months old with 4K, without RNSe (now retro`d for £400) and buckets, but the same options as yours + sun roof and phone prep.

TBH I reckon anything over 20K is pretty good going, 20K + Buckets p/x is a right result.

Ave spec/Ave miles 07/57 cars are on my local AUDI forecourt for 20K

Its a nice car with teeny miles in the right colour so very desirable at the right price.

Good luck with the sale.
Cheers
Paul

PS - Whats next?

He is going down market...Cayman i expect......Corsa's are nice :salute:

mate of mine (who doesn't care at all about cars) recently bought an i20. brilliant machine. would destroy your big turbo stage 3 S3s as well

Looking at a Q5 3 ltr tdi , was offered 23.5k against pre reg with del miles.

Thanks for replies in no rush to sell just thought might be a good time as still has warranty remaining.

As posted above it depends on the deal. Q5's have 9% discount + dealer bonuses etc so assuming 40k 9% off = £3.6k which added to the circa £20k it's probably worth is about it. Obviously I don't know the deal or dealer. Why go for a Q5.. the A/S5 is a cracker (A5 3.0TDi is wonderful!)

I took the i20 to be a B*W 120.. but maybe some eastern company produces an i20....???

a 120 competing with an s3? it wouldnt touch a standard s3 lol

just read that back and made sense of it. i'm devastated you thought i was recommending a car from a certain Bavarian car company whose name we shall not usher (M3 excepting, ofc).

Funny how Audi owners often hate BMW's. I 've never had one but have been tempted on several occasions... If you walk into the local dealers it is full of posers and possibly Chavs or is the latest term Rah's...Loved the 70's and some early 80's stuff but not the Bangle Design. BM and Mini Plastics and Trim is really second rate although the new GT looks a little more promising... Never say never I say but probably never will buy a B* BM

I used to have an Audi S3 until recently and have owned a long list of Audi's in the past, I now own a BMW and guess what ?? I hate BMW's.

Shame it didnt work out mate.
I genuinely wish BMW would radically re style the 1 series so I had a real premium alternative to an A3/S3.

Likewise the 3 series to some degree.
A car generally considered a class leader from a brand such as BMW should look better than it does. The coupe was a missed opportunity IMO, its just not as special as previous incarnations and the first one where the 4 door looks easy as good.

Even the E92 M3 didnt have the same impact at release as the previous gens. Which looked much more special in their day.

All that said, I have become completely sold on the ever forgiving quattro set up.
Could see me hedge bound in full ham fisted fashion in a rwd car.

cheers

After some modifications Paul the car is now better than it was,it is now kicking out 263bhp and doing 45mpg which aint bad. But I just do not get the whole BMW thing, the quality for is just not there for me,except for maybe the leather quality and the M-Sport seats which are superb. I imagine I will be back in an Audi in about 12 months or so, need to get my moneys worth out of the BMW.

I totally agree with you on the quattro, that is one of the things i really miss, do not feel anywhere near as confident in the rear wheel drive set up, although a bit of sideways action can be fun at times but only when you plan it.

My mates just got a company car, a white 116d M sport. Its a 60 plate and even he thinks its rubbish compared to my 6 year old A3!

Mmm yes the Audi is just a nicer place to be so I would agree with him. I only changed brands for the BMW Bi- Turbo engine, my first diesel, and must say for a derv it is very good, not sure how happy i would of been with a A3 diesel. Think I will be back in a petrol next though.

if Audi ever get around to releasing their twin turbo 2.0TDI (premiered in the Clubsport quattro concept for those with short memories) then that would most certainly be my favourite engine in the lineup.

to be fair i don't HATE BMW, it's just from their entire lineup there's not a car of theirs that i would pick for the money they charge.

A3 over 1 Series
IS over 3-Series
E-Coupe or A5 over 3-Coupe
Cayman or TT-RS over Z4
XF over 5-Series
Jag XK, SL or 911 over 6-Series
S-Class over 7-Series

there isn't a BMW i desperately WANT. the only possible exception is the BMW M3

Refreshing to read a balanced considered view.
Fact based opinions are what make forums so useful.

Hi Sub...

Comments on your thoughts

A3 over 1 Series Every time!!!
IS over 3-Series Not a chance Lexus is just ****** Toyota Crap IMHO What's wrong with an A4?
E-Coupe or A5 over 3-Coupe Not a chance... Mercs are all Bling these days and not a quality motor anymore with the Chrysler input . A5/S5 is fantastic try living with a big engined Quattro!
Cayman or TT-RS over Z4 I agree 100%
XF over 5-Series Rebadged Ford or is it Tata.. also very Bling.. new 5 especially GT quite smart and a change for B*MW.. Take a look at Audi A7 and the A6 next year
Jag XK, SL or 911 over 6-Series - Take a look at Porsche 997/911 or Maserati QP or GT or Aston
S-Class over 7-Series - Audi A8 any day... An engine for everyone from 3.0Tdi to the R8 Lambo engine.. see review in latest What Car...Google Street View linked to Sat Nav...awesome

Just a few Sunday morning ramlings to prompt some debate and contoversy eh..
E-Coupe or A5 over 3-Coupe
