Well looks like my Audi is ready to be put to sleep, after a whopping 234,000 miles my turbo has gone, considering i have had 170k of pretty trouble free miles I cannot justify spending a grand on a 2002 1.8t quattro with that much mileage :)

The symtoms are after hard revving then drop to idle i get soooo much blueish white smoke out the back that you can't see anything around you, I noticed it about 10k miles ago as i was accelerating up a slip road, the car behind had a foogy glaze from the smoke from my exhausts.

I really want to stick with Audi but the missus is pregnant with our first and there is just no room in the back so I might jump ship and get a *cough* Ford SMAX Tittanium :(

Damn shame that mate.....surely it isnt £1k to change the turbo.........

i hope your not planning on running the Ford for a 170,000 miles :)

I paid 380 for a recon turbo and fitted it myself using a guide off the net!!

Thanks for the advice guys, I have owned the car for 6 years now and I love it, but surely it's time to say bye bye :)

I really CBA to change the turbo myself, and most garages are quoting min of 400 quid to swap the turbo.

Somebody would be willing to buy it and do the job i'd imagine, stick a for sale post up with the info and take some offers maybe........one mans trash is anothers treasure an all that!

You gonna part ex or sell it cheap?

After much deliberation and after 10 years of Audi quattro ownership i have crossed to the darkside :(

I needed more room for our soon to be born and decided in my price range the only A4 estate i could afford was a Sline and given the fact it's no different really to mine i have jumped ship.

Please go easy on me lol

Very good car, lets see if that will make a 1/4 of a million miles! :)

just dont become the normal BMW driver a no road maners keep part of the audi in you lol

Yeah, even though my dashboard is lit up like a xmas tree on my Audi it still drives smooth as a you like, took it camping last weeked 200 miles with a blown turbo, lights flashing everywhere and the damn thing still drives like new, I love it.

in saying that this 2.0 Diesel BMW will be my first BMW, i like the push button start and the touring styling is pretty nice too, this car comes with brand new wheels too :)

Heres my Audi being cleaned

that maybe as BMW alloys crack very easy mate watch out for thoughs pot holes

Ronny,

You do realise they do not even fit indicators to BMWs right ?

I have never seen a BMW use them yet !!!

Maybe yours will be OK.

Good luck fella.

R.I.P the trusty old Audi, impressive mileage mate !

I think the BM's run the Audi's a very close second these days. I'd never grumble if I ended up with a BM diesel, I prefer the 5's as they're a bit bigger for my needs. Nice car though, I hope it does you as well as the Audi.

Lol thanks, I don't know of anyone else at that sort of mileage on a 1.8T but i will be driving my beamer very carefully, just like i did with the audi :)

PS am i mad flying up to scotland to pick it up haha 39 quid with easyjet should be a cool drive home though.

Ronny, just sent you a PM about your car, sorry about spelling.
