Hi my name is Simon, i've got an A3 1.8t AUM, and i've got a turbo problem...I've had the problem for a while now, but just can't seem to get rid of it! :crying::blownose:
It sometimes kicks in - and sometimes it doesnt! Nothing shows on VagCom, it shows the wastegate responding as it should, no pressure being lost.
I drove exactly the same car as mine(both standard) and it was like it was a completely different car, if you know what i mean, it was a nice constant surge of power.
I've been back and forth to The Phirm, but just can't put a finger on it!
I just don't know what to look for! If anyone has ever experienced anything like this (i know the description is poor, but its really hard to exaplain!) I would be greatful for any advice for something to look for!!

Cheers

Sounds like the N75 valve playing up, common problem. I had the same thing on my S3. I replaced it and all is well with power all the way through.

Also just to add, when my N75 was playing up, it didn't show anything on vag-com. Luckily my mechanic had a spare new one so we could test to see if it was the problem. It will most likely be your problem though matey.

If you get an intermittent 'flat' acceleration issue try turning off car and back on. This usually clears the issue fort me. I had the car VAG.com'd today (after a few annoying months of this issue) but I did get error code

17705 - Pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve (check DV)
. It was reported as intermittent. checked the DV and the pipe on the left appears a tad damp near the join prob indicating that there's a leak. Std clips don't do a good job. Thinking of a Forge DV and some proper jubile clips to see of that cures the problem.

Troopa, i have already had the N75 valve changed, correct me if im wrong but are there different colours for this for different power engines??

Pete its fitted with a Forge 007p as that was one of the first things that i thought of! I will have a look at the pipe later on though...

I went to another audi specialist last night 'BM Autos' in Binfield, and he mentioned something about maybe a split in the intercooler - its the standared intercooler, and the car is 10 yrs old so i was going to have a little look at that aswell, i may aswell just rip that one out and go for the FMIC :arco:

I have'nt read any of the other posts so excuse me if i am repeating what has already been said.

I had this exact problem on my S3 and 1.8T, but i would call it more of an irratic boost, and it ended up being a knacked MAF on both cars.

Just unplug the MAF, and take it for a spin, i noticed mine was under powered, (power will be restricted with MAF unplugged) but smoother. If it is boosting correctly then it is your MAF.

If it is the MAF, don't buy a cheap pattern part, buy genuine Bosche, as i went through 3 pattern parts within 5 months.

Wouldn't a knackered MAF not show up on VagCom though?! Will have a go with it off!!
