I have the ABS light and traction control light on all the time now, but my brake lights are working ...
Can anyone help ?
Traction control is turned off and ABS is switched off too...

You will nedd to have it pluged into vagcom (vcds) to scan for fault codes and go from there mate regardless of your brake lights working bud.

I think what he meant was with the abs/esp light on the abs/esp is not working....dont guess, put diagnostics on there to find out the fault as one will be logged.

My moneys on either the lateral or longitudinal acceleration sensors, but as has been said the only way to know is to get it scanned for faults.

I had this/got this, steering angle sensor, brake light switch and ABS controller all needed replacing.
Really need to get it on VAGCOM to confirm what it is tho.

i also had this problem, after hooking it up to vagcom it turned out to be a wheel speed/abs sensor

Wow .. that's a load of replys , it all sounded quite possible , to answer the questions
No not had the wheel off , no cant turn ABS on I only have a button for traction control , I have been pressing it to turn traction control off .... and turning it back on as it goes way too quickly round bends for the poor little 16" wheels ! before this happened the traction control was cutting in way to early on right hand bends , I had thought it was after a 4 wheel alignment 12 months ago but not sure ...I have a feeling this was the steering angle sensor ..hope its not the abs controller as that sounds expensive !! as the brake lights work I guess its not the brake switch, anyone in the west midlands with vagcom able to run a scan for me , my MAC wont run vagcom ;o(
