When i got my car back from Audi last time following a new cam chain and ecu flash update the thing ran like a Swiss watch. Now after 500 miles its settled back to its old ways. Dont get me wrong..its fine , no codes and runs ok but petrol consumption has dropped off and the exhaust is sooty again. Its throbby at tick over and its just lost that edge. In short its reverted back to Std Audi.....lol. Having seen how it can be before the ECU learns how to be lethargic again i am wondering if a custom remap might help ie weaken it off through out the rev range. I have seen a few write ups from R32 owners who have improved throttle response and taken away the asthmatic attacks at 5000rpm plus , Anyone here had a custom map ???

Hi,

I got a bluefin at the start of the year and thought it was awsome! However over the time the map seems to have "tamed" down. Noticed it most when a tt wanted to get up the slip road before me. When i got back home i reflashed the ecu with the bluefin then with pretty much the same road conditions same slip road the car couldnt get enough and the esp was going crazy! Never happened the day before! Car feels alive again!

Not sure if its due to the way the ecu "learns" or what but would be nice to have the response there on tap!

Thats interesting Kempus because mine was just the same. I had the ESP flashing coming off roundabouts and the whole exhaust note was crisper. Now its gone back to std and i wondered if a custom remap would cure this and if it would LAST !!!

Must admit, don't really notice mine anymore, still feels responsive etc but I did get 39 MPG the other day on the way home, drove like a complete F*nny though, Don't know if it has reverted back to its old map, but with the MPG I guess not?

Yea i got 37mpg over a 60 mile journey from Ipswich to Cromer on the A140 and it was averaging 32mpg on the local commute but thats dropped back to 28 again now. Seems thats where it wants to be but its annoying knowing there is more there and you cant get at it.

have you tried checking the MAF sensor? plug it off drive car, if power drops its ok, if powers the same, it needs a change.

A re-map fixed that breathless feeling over 5k RPM, upto you mate, but I'll remap every performance car I get from now on. But will it bring back the hesitation on your car? It's a gamble mate, weird how it only affects certain cars. Be interesting to hear how you get on buddy.

I think i need to get my **** into gear now and start doing some test to see what is really going on. first of all i will do a plug chop and take it from there.

Paddy,
Was it you that flew past me on the Orwell bridge luchtime today?

hehe spotted

Are you sure it's not in your head Paddy (no offence meant). Mine seems to drive worse when I think about it!!!

Just curious, what is a "Plug Chop"? The MPG is the give away, I've got to really give it some to get 28 MPG.
